Take Two Draft League v4 Topic

This will be a 24-team league with a two-round serpentine draft. Each owner will draft one hitter and one pitcher (doesn't matter which round you draft either in). The hitter and pitcher you draft will be exclusive to you. The catch is that you MUST draft the two most expensive seasons AND the two least expensive seasons of each player's career. You may only draft those four seasons for your two selected players.

NOTE: Each season of your drafted players must come from a different year. If some or all of a player's two most expensive or two least expensive seasons in WIS are actually from the same real-life season, with two different teams (see: Bill Bernhard), you will draft his most/least expensive of those seasons, and then his next most/least expensive season from a different year.

You will fill out the remainder of your team as you see fit. The players you draft will determine how much you have to spend on the remaining 17 roster spots.

NOTE: To help maintain the spirit of the theme, you must spend at least $5M combined on your four drafted hitter seasons and at least $5M combined on your four drafted pitcher seasons.

WE WILL USE A DH THIS TIME

$140M Cap
YES DH
NO AAA
NO WW
NO Clones (outside of your two drafted players)
NO Trades
YES Injuries

You may use any ballpark.

Partial seasons ok?
Whatever their most or least expensive seasons are. If those are partials, that’s fine.

How do we solve this situation?

Player A's second most expensive season is a combined season
Player A's second least expensive season is a partial from that same season

Which takes precedence? And would it matter if one of those were the most/least as opposed to second?

I would think the most expensive seasons take precedence and then you just take the third least..... but will leave for the league commish to weigh in

I would probably suggest it could be left up to the owner, so long as they don't use the same season twice. If you'd rather use that partial as one of the two lowest, then use the 3rd-highest, do that. If you'd rather keep the two highest and use a 3rd-lowest, do that.

I've already found a couple examples and I'm sure there are a lot.

Since it wasn’t made clear, we will go with this approach. I don’t want to sabotage anyone’s strategy now.

If there is overlap, you will select either the two most expensive or least expensive seasons, then take the next two from the other end that don’t cause overlap.

However, I’m going to require that people specify their approach when they draft.
