So Player Profile: Daiki Nomo - Hardball Dynasty Baseball | WhatIfSports is in my AAA club. 1st round pick from a few seasons ago, age 20 with perhaps 1 good year of development coming and then inching fwd for a few seasons after. Anyone ever have an effective SP with a single useable pitch? This next year of development could push vL into the low 80's and vR into low 70's. very solid and his saving grace. However ...

not good. I am inclined to have low expectations. Anyone feel different?
I would probably still put him in the majors, but you're right -- don't expect much. I would probably play him at LRB; low-inning tandem-B after a right handed starter; mopup. I would do my best to hide him behind right handed starters.

To me he is not good enough to be on a ml team. Id put him in aaa until he is or trade him for someone better.

I agree with brianp. He's not a ML pitcher.

Make him a reliever.

I like the splits enough that I'd give him an SP5 job but put him on a pull of 4 or 5.

(There is no truth to this whatsoever)
I always imagine the pitches are how effective the pitcher will be everytime they go through the batting order. First time through 71, second time through, 50. So you might get 4 good innings out of him? Course I play in SD in the NL so with a guy like that I'd have him pitching 90 pitch complete games and competing for a Cy Young.

Edit: That being said, he is a HS kid with already good stuff. Give him his 4 years of growth in the minors. Bring him up for his Rule V year and don't look back. I can see him being very effective.

If his GB/FB rating was higher, I'd feel better about him. But I have a feeling he will give up a lot of home runs in the majors.

The guy is a big leaguer. He won't be an ace but certainly good enough to fill out a rotation on a decent team. He's only 20 so his splits and control will still improve. I had this guy for a hot minute. I was worried that he wouldn't be as effective because of the pitches and flipped him.

I find GB/ FB isn’t as big a factor as it looks sometimes.

Jair Sanchez: https://www.whatifsports.com/hbd/Pages/Popups/PlayerStats.aspx?pid=5662605

had a GB/FB of 0 his entire career and still was on the cusp of a HOF career.
