ANOTHER Fair Play Violation?? dun dun duuuun Topic

Check out this box score from the 2nd round of the D2 Tourney in Phelan

FGCU coach completely changed his lineup before this game from what he was running all season. He put a Frosh - who hadn't even played all season- at starting PG and had him take 99% of the shots. He intentionally benched his starters or didn't play them at all.

He also changed his Offense and Defense for this game only.

A reminder for all those keeping score at home - Fair Play Guidelines state:

"Collusion includes any act that supports bad, deceitful or illegal behavior agreed upon by two or more users or attempted by a single user. Here are a few examples:
-Any clear throwing of a game (normally indicated by massive lineup changes or settings changes)"

1) Maybe he was hacked
2) Dont know what the issue is. They made 100% of their FTs.

Wow. Seble come back. And this one directly hurts the teams Grand Canyon will have to plan too. I wonder how mad ab will be about this one.

and they play each other every year in non-con must be a total coincidence.

yeah i mean i figure its the same guy, too.

i'm curious what folks think about a coach who plays themselves with two teams in the NT, two teams they have in compliance with the 1000 mile rule. i personally don't care if they throw the game on the one team, i mean i don't really think its great to have 2 teams in the same division regardless of distance in part for this reason - but it is allowed nonetheless - and i sort of feel like, if you allow these teams, you are almost already allowing for this. it just seems kinda like... 1) impossible to strictly police and 2) rare enough with a small enough net consequence on the game that the rest of us just shouldn't care what it happens, what the coach does.

i know this is not allowed and am not asking if its allowed. i'm curious if folks think it important enough for an intervention.

Technically wouldn’t you want to play a full lineup though? Whichever team wins is probably your better chance at winning the NT anyways. Though playing against yourself seems counterproductive in non-conf.

If it's the same guy he should probably forfeit the next game.

If you can choose which of your two teams to advance in the NT, but you can only pick one:

Do you pick your A 62 - S 59 - R 25 - D 66 team?
Or do you pick your A 68 - S 50 - R 50 - D 80 team, which already beat your other team in a fair fight during the regular season?

His next opponent is a Sim, which is probably for the best. The engine could solve this on its own.

IP check, ban scheyerguy, grand canyon loses to sim at the minimum.

Both accounts should be permabanned, but I want due diligence first to make sure they're the same person. Fluffnasty deserves to get his side out there.

I play a lot of the same coaches every season but this is really suspicious and if they are the same person, against the Fair Play guidelines for his non-conference scheduling.

Scheduling a non-conference game against an alias team (i.e. team owned by same owner in a different conference and more than 1,000 miles away). Exhibition games are permitted in this situation, however.

For a half-dozen seasons after my son stopped playing and I took over this account, I had two teams in the same division in Naismith, moving shoe3 to Abilene Christian from Medgar Evers to stay in compliance with the mileage rule. Twice in the first 3 seasons, those two teams were in the same NT bracket. Both times, they would have played, except for a big upset - Davis and Elkins was beaten in the second round as a 1 seed in season #78, and Abilene Christian was beaten by a 14 seed in the first round in season #80. Part of me was kind of looking forward to the matchups, just out of curiosity. I was going to gameplan straight, I was honestly fascinated to see how they would fare, they were such different teams. Wasn’t meant to be. Ultimately moved on to D1 with the original handle because 3.0 was coming out, tensions were starting to run hot, and was starting to think twice about how much fun it would be if those two teams played in the tournament.

My 2c on this case is that it certainly does look worth reporting. This is the sort of “sabotage” that would have a real effect, if that is what we’re looking at.
