10 days into the season, here are the best games:
10/29 Game of the Night: ashamael Grizzlies over jcred5 Laker 114 -108
Grizzlies were led by 31 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocks on 9/17 shooting from the field and 9/10 from the line by Kyrie Irving. Julius Erving led the Lakers with 28 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals on 10/14 shooting. The game was ultimately decided by a 17-5 advantage of the offensive glass for the Grizzlies.
10/30 Game of the Night: robusk Trail Blazers over bds9992 Suns 112-106
Blazers were led by 41 points and 10 rebounds on 14/24 shooting from the field and 9/11 from the line by Kevin Durant. LeBron was only slightly outdueled with a 36/9/8 line but not as efficient with 14/27 from the field. The Suns were much better from the paint, enjoying a 52-32 advantage but they were outrebounded by a 61-38 advantage.
10/31 Game of the Night: ashamael Grizzlies over ysw128 Warriors 103-92
Walt Frazier overcame 6 turnovers by dumping in a 28/8/3 night and Jerry Lucas contributed a 15/9/6 while Dwight Howard battled foul trouble. Kevin McHale struggled from the field producing a 4/18 night and Moses Malone could not make traction on the glass, coming up with only 5 rebounds. Overall the Grizzlies enjoyed a 43-27 advantage on the defensive boards.
11/1 Game of the Night: dBKC Clippers over the amerk1180 Bulls 98-96
Willis Reed poured in 19/13/3 on only 9 shots to hold off a big 24 point night from the Bulls Andre Drummond while David Robinson couldn’t get it going, as he shot 4/17 from the field. The Clippers overall outshot the Bulls 52% to 43% from the field.
11/2 Game of the Night: dskantor Jazz over albiband0 Rockets 98-95
Fat Lever was on fire scoring 27 points on 18 shots, including 2/5 from three point range while Kareem added in 15 rebounds on the night. Robert Parish battled hard with 15/13 on only 9 shots and the Rockets had a 54-24 point advantage on points in the paint but it wasn’t enough.
11/3 Game of the Night: benhoidal Timberwolves over mikee1 Knicks 99-91
Deron Williams and Anthony Davis combined for 47 points, 17 rebounds and 7 assists to outduel a scorching hot Ray Allen who had 31. The Timberwolves played a more well rounded game winning fast break points 20-10, points in the paint 46-34, second chance points 10-4, bench points 27-18 and assists 30-23.
11/4 Game of the Night: dh555 76ers over ysw128 Warriors 110-104
The 76ers had 5 players in double figures, including 28 from Kobe Bryant and 24 from Larry Bird while Moses Malone added 28/10 for the Warriors. What was a close back and forth all night was eventually decided by more clutch free through shooting as the 6 point FTM advantage for the 76ers proved to be the difference.
11/5 Game of the Night: jcred5 Lakers over jpevans 31 Mavericks 118-113
Derek Harper and Klay Thompson both scored over 20 for the Mavericks while 5 players scored over 15 points for the Lakers, led 25 for Julius Erving. Both teams were scorching hot including 56% on 18 shots for the Mavericks. The 62-40 points in the paint advantage for the Lakers was the deciding factor.
11/6 Game of the Night: mptrey Raptors over 20ks Bucks 109-108
Oscar Robertson was two rebounds shy of a triple double with a 17/8/13 night. Kawhi Leonard was dominant scoring 36 points on only 19 shots. The Raptors were able to pull it out by outshooting the Bucks 44%-29% from the three and 96%-72% from the charity stripe.
11/7 Game of the Night: tarheel1991 Hornets over ashamael Grizzlies 106-104
Carmelo Anthony came off the bench due to Shawn Marion foul trouble and added 23 points to the Hornets win. Ron Harper tried to match in bench production with 21 but a 14 point advantage in fast break points for the Hornets was too much to overcome.
