Game of the Night

Today’s action takes us back to world 4 as Speakerboxxx looks to stay undefeated against the winless fistful of dollars.

Dirk has it going in the first as he scores 11 of his 30. Stockton tries to rally his guys scoring 15 points in the 4th, but it isn’t enough. Speakerboxxx 114 fistful of dollars 104.
Instead of whoa boys, I am drawing a random game. I am trying to avoid doing the same governor consecutively and won't do my own games.

Should I post them here or start a new thread?

You should feel free to do your own game if it looks like a fun one.

Currently I am drawing a random number 1-60, but I think I will start to select them as we get closer to the all star break.

Second 4-1! Three 4-2 teams, let’s go guys!

Starting Doug was an audible. Seems to be working out. Only one team I’m worried about, and it’s definitely my weakest in my hardest division

bds,

No, I don't have you blocked on the forums; just sitemail.
No, I don't go out of my way to target you. If you never posted here, I'd never respond to you here. I don't post in threads that don't pertain to me - since I left the ODL, I haven't been part of that. There was a couple of days where I was hanging around because there was a chance I was going to jump back in when someone was a no-show and/or got kicked out. After it became clear that wasn't the case, I left.
No, your posts aren't just innocent thoughts most of the time. Those that are, I leave alone. It's the "don't talk about my team" in a thread designed to talk about everybody's team (go look up Commentary if you don't know the definition). If you don't want to read **** about your squad, stay the **** out of the ******* commentary thread. Or let it slide off you.

Yes, the evaluations against you are in line with evaluations against anyone - at least from me. You just take it personally when they don't. I'm not the one saying, "Poor Lebron." I evaluate the picks & the teams as I see them. I even gave your team a somewhat favorable evaluation, though I clearly thought (and still do think, we're 6 games in) that it has some issues. And at the very beginning of those evaluations? A disclaimer about how my opinion means absolute dick.

My main issue is you trying to dictate what people can and can't say. If your comments were just like everyone else's, I'd leave you alone or respond to you the way I do anybody else. This vendetta to instigate **** and then play the victim card is the one & only thing I am holding against you, and I'm not going to let that go as long as you continue to do it. I'm not going to go out of my way to pick on you, but when you comment some absurd **** in a commentary thread, you're going to get responded to. The response will be on the level of the post you make. If you make a comment saying, "I like my defense but would have liked a few more boards" then I'd probably pass that up or agree with you. If you say, "don't talk about my team," I"m going to tell you to get the **** out of here, get thicker skin, or just make fun of you.

Or maybe I'll just redline your antagonizing posts.

To everyone else that's sick of this,
re-read what Rob said. I'm not going to coddle anyone in a commentary thread because they are sensitive. If you believe that I should, well, you can leave, too.

Obviously everybody should be free to tell ash that he's a complete failure because of his teams' slow start.

It may be possible that my best team is...not my best team. Sample size of games is too small to get excited one way or another, but success in this theme depends to some degree on which teams end up in a division together. I keep reminding myself to give up on thinking I know how this sim works.

For those contemplating that, I would get those shots in earlier than later, because I dont see this lasting too long.

if you are looking to sell your Ash stock, I am buying.

I was right about which teams would be my two worst, although so far they are worse than even I would have predicted. Hoping the heavy road schedule to start is some cause for optimism but one of the two struggling teams is the only one that had more home games.

The other three seem to be in decent shape.

THE FIGHTING RED FORMANS at
Survivalism
https://www.whatifsports.com/NBA/boxscore.asp?GameID=9757777&nomenu=1&teamfee=9.95

Survivalism never found their footing in this one. Trailing by eleven to start the second half, it took three and a half minutes before Alvin Robertson was finally able to score from the field. Shooting 30% from the field with 5 TOs, Klay didn’t mince words during postgame.

“I played like ****. I was awful. I’m going to go home, drink some chocolate milk, take all five Roccos for a big walk and try to bounce back later tonight.”

For TFRF, Charles Barkley went 15-19 from the charity stripe helping him to lead all scorers with 34 points despite seven TOs of his own.

THE FIGHTING RED FOREMANS have improved to 2-0 in the season series.

What I wanted to do/What I did do:
Assemble five equal strength teams that had three scorers, solid overall defense and rebounding, and aim for GOOD but not GREAT across all five. I took Malone because he’s got many great seasons, and I thought he was the best player available. I took Payton because PG is thin in this format, he plays 100/100 at PG and SG, 90 defense, decent passing and is consistent across five seasons, and set up the next pick- Jesus. I thought Jesus might perform a bit better than he does in the 52 against this (slightly) watered down roster construct. So far, he’s inconsistent. One or two Jesus iterations are hot, the others are the bad kind of icy. Oak and Silas were low usage defense and rebounding picks to bolster the lineup around the “big three”. Kanter had three things I needed- usage, offensive rebounding, and efficiency. Tough to get all three in five seasons, and I can stomach the bad defense (or so I thought). Brandon was intended to be a PG backup but here I am a few games in thinking he’s going to be more than that- I don’t hate it. Oladipo was a ****** pick. One solid season and the rest are just 8mpg backups of mediocrity. Is this when I was in the hospital? I blame that. Redd gives backup usage, threes and efficiency. Humphries acts as my bench Oak and Silas, minus the defense. Randle not a good choice. Looney half decent. Wish I had built some lineups instead of thinking about building lineups, as I would have drafted better backups for Silas at SF.
Who I missed: better backup bigs, and I would have taken Kemba had he fallen to me that round. Payton/Jesus/Kemba I think is a solid backcourt trio in this format. Brandon will now need to shoot 200+ more threes a year!
Expectations: I am hoping to get three or four teams in the playoffs. I think W2 is a miss, but the others could still play decent enough ball to get in.
Next season: I have a better handle on the draft depth, how to manage picks and build on the fly, and will be better off. I love getting slept on (zero nominations for top ten finish!), and this format is closer to the 52 than the ODL, which matches my preference more.
1 Karl Malone
2 Gary Payton
3 Ray Allen
4 Charles Oakley
5 Paul Silas
6 Enes Kanter
7 Terrell Brandon
8 Victor Oladipo
9 Michael Redd
10 Kris Humphries
11 Julius Randle
12 Kevon Looney

Great write-up. Moses and Payton is a great 1-2 punch and Looney was a helluva steal in round 12.
