Would be cool if we had access to advanced stats like offensive rating, defensive rating, on/off for individual players and 5 man lineups.

Anybody ever take the time to read through the play by play and calculate this kind of stuff?

Agreed. It would enhance gameplay and make it feel far more realistic. And it has to be pretty easy to add...

Just a lot of math I'm happy to help WIS program if they would like, except on/off which we obviously cannot get in a timely manner:

That being said it's ridiculous I don't have these in my stats spreadsheet yet. Will add sometime and share with you all.

Yeah, unfortunately the most helpful stuff can’t be taken from the end of the game box score and automated into a spreadsheet.

When I argue about real basketball, often it’s yeah dude puts up 20 ppg, but the team gives up 120 points per 100 possessions when he’s on the floor vs. scoring 115. He’s having a negative impact overall. It would be cool to see if that SG with a 55 DEF rating but 99 PER/BH/PA or the big with crazy athleticism and defense but only 40 REB is really helping your team as much as you think.

Love to see the +/- stat added to the player stats

+1 to that.

Maybe I could create a program for this... idk if I am skilled enough though.

Ambivalent. Agree it would be cool, from a stat-head perspective. On the other hand, not sure it would have a positive effect on gameplay, if people could easily view advanced, isolated individual contribution like that. It might be like the introduction of potential, but on steroids.

I mean college basketball is a small sample size sport.... you'd have to balance ratings/stats a little moreso. It's not like the stats would be remotely perfect.
