2020 SLB Players and Teams Will be Wild Topic

Rosters are likely to be small. Right know Phils have only 12 hitters and 5 pitchers that qualify. It is very likely no one else will. The pitchers are all starters. They have one reliever at 21 innings, but there is no guarantee he will get 4 more this week. Possible their number 2 catcher might make it also as Realmuto is hurting.

Looking around the Yankees have the same situation, and the Braves are worse. The Braves have 3 pitchers now, 3 or 4 others are close.

Commishioners (sp?) will need to be creative.

How about Luke Voit's 11 HR/100 AB or Freddie Freeman's slash line of .340/.460/.624.

And Mike Mayer's unicorn year. He'd never been under a 1.43 whip for a season before and yet he's posting a 0.74 whip with 36/9 K/BB - and he's up to 27 IP.

Devin Williams needs just 2 more IP to get to 25. He's at 23ip, 6h (.078 OAV), 8bb, 47k.
He got it tonight. 25 IP, .60 WHIP, .072 OAV

some highlights as we play out the string:

D Williams 25 ip, 0.60 whip, .072 oav, 1 hr, 47 k (good for an outrageous 0.84 FIP, the closest thing to our ERC#)
Kershaw with the quietest 0.75 whip season ever
Maeda also 0.75 whip
Max Fried 0 hr allowed
Corbin Burnes 56 ip, 31 h, 83 k, 1 hr

Soto .348/.477/.674 in 172 PAs - should be more affordable since that's <500 PA/162
Freeman .340/.460/.624
Lemahieu .365 with 6 hr/100ab as a 2b (and Tim Anderson not far off)
Sal Perez .357, 11 2b, 8 hr in just 131 PA at C
Jared Walsh cookie 10 hr/100 in a small sample that could be a 200pa platoon for us

Roberto Perez hitting .157 but has thrown out 71% of base stealers
Arenado 3.45 RF/9 (lg avg 2.7)

shout out to Javy Baez and an incredible .206/.242/.362 line with 70 k's and 7 bb's in 206 PAs; somehow a lower obp and slg than Gary Sanchez

Has WIS indicated anywhere yet if they'll be lowering the qualifying IP/PA for 2020? Right now we would have an average of about 7 pitchers per team if they don't change it (198 as of this morning), and that's going to make it impossible to use these teams.

Even going all the way down to 15 IP would probably leave us short, but it would be much closer (401 so far). There were about 500 qualifying pitchers in 2018 and 2019. To get that many in 2020, the cutoff would have to go down to 8 (though, to be fair, with a 2.7 multiplier 9 would be the correct cutoff proportionally).

I'd rather see them use a proportional cutoff and get the players into the database. Theme owners can always exclude 2020 if they want to, but it would be fun to have a full allotment.

I’m kind of the other way on this... I wish they would exclude 2020 entirely. But I definitely do not want them prorating guys with 22 at bats or 10 innings pitched.

This post has a rating of , which is below the default threshold.
1899: 225 players

1900: 150 players

1901: 250 players

Prorate, **** dem open leagues, I want enough players

I’m personally excited by the new players. There should be some great new additions- I’m fine with there being less players as it’ll make 2020 players unique.

good god man, by "dem" he meant them, he was talking about progressive leagues, not progressive democrats.

I thought that was pretty clear as well. I prefer that this game be a break from the political, which dominates far too much of everything else. Let's really try to stay sane here.

I hope they don't prorate stats or change anything about that for 2020, other than lowering the threshold for IP and PA across the entire database.

2020 will be full of great platoon/bench guys, LOOGY's, and long relievers!

same rules as other seasons.

i would love to see them soon.

I don't mind the more limited player pool. 1899-1901 are some of my favorite sim seasons, lots of unique bargains... I'd imagine 2020 will be even more so due to the short schedule giving us tons of stat combos and not-quite-full-time seasons that we don't normally see.

I've already found a handful of guys that will likely break into my regular used players, and a bunch that will be on the "fun to try" list.

I'm really looking forward to this group of players.
