I agree with Top. I don't doubt that some of the new teams are alt accounts but I don't think they're the vast majority.
in the olden days almost all the free HD accounts were people experimenting, people getting a free season, people using freehd for FSS scouting, or new people who didn't stay. its hard to say what the breakdown is, but it sure seemed like a surprising proportion were existing coaches. i think i had 2 freehd teams for random experimentation, but it might have been more.
that said... i feel like the experimental mood of this community is somewhat diminished from the olden days, and the gray area around FSS sharing had diminished while general awareness of fair play issues has increased. so i'm largely hopeful that some of the freehd guys are real, this time around. the last time was insane - d3 worlds spiked to 100% full everywhere. but it was just total garbage.
in conclusion - most old timers probably share a 'ill believe a meaningful percentage of those freehd coaches are actual potential new coaches when i see it' attitude. i'm not sure its all trash, and i hope its not, but experience dictates i have to assume it is until proven otherwise. freehd didnt just go around the track once or anything, this was a common thing back in the day. i am encouraged by the folks who report talking to a bunch of new coaches, though!
