If there was a magic answer, I don't think it would be as enjoyable. You'd just be adjusting the odds with a doubleteam and get what you'd expect. That's why coaches with different strategies is so great.

In real life, I wouldn't doubleteam MJ if Scottie Pippen was healthy. But if he didn't have any other great scorers around him, I'd double him. In this game, it seems like whenever I double the opponent's clear best scorer, not only does their overall team perform better, but so does he. Pretty odd... I don't doubleteam very often, but one of my two teams is Press, so I'd only be doubling with one team and it's only when I see a clear advantage to it.

I definitely recommend putting multiple starters on always for most things.
I agree as well. If I have the option to double team (Man/Zone) I use the hell out of it.

to shoes point about making the player less effective...... it depends on the player. I think studs will be studs. You can double team Lebron and Jordan all you want, you won't shut them down. So in a lot of situations, I LOVE when my opponent double teams my best player....... if he's super elite. Because it often has NO effect, or very little effect. And ends up helping my other shooters percentages too.

best example I can give (keep in mind I'm D2 minded)..... i feel like the most unstoppable force in HD as far as scoring, is a 100 PER shooter (with good ratings everywhere else they need to be) while running triangle offense. That guy can almost never be stopped. So double teaming him, he's still gonna shoot 6-13 (rather than 7-13 without the double) from deep. And 6-13 from deep against a double team I'll take all day.

because of this, I'm a coach that generally tries to double team Robin and I let Batman get his points. He's going to anyways most of the time.

Yeah I have this 92 ath 100 spd 75 lp 100 bh 97 pa 83 sta PG that people try to double-team, and it works even worse than when people tried to double my 100 ath 100 spd 100 per 100 bh 80 pa 90 sta guy a couple years ago during my title run.

I like to use doubleteam when the opponent's reserve (usually a SG) is their leading scorer - and occasionally for players in the starting lineup, but only if there's a pretty major scoring discrepancy, or if that player has low BH/PAS and is prone to turnovers.

I don't use it very frequently, but maybe a few times a season i'll implement it

Does this logic extend to facing sims at all? Or is it only for facing human teams?

That's what I've always wondered about though. Does the DT help to create more TO's, or does it just affect distro and shooting %? Because if it doesn't help to create TO's and you double a player with weak bh/pass, then you're essentially lowering their distro and creating less TO's.
