Most Disappointing Players - Is it a Trend Topic

Have used and seen Seaver just get bombed all the time in standard $80mil leagues.

Using Melancon now and he has ERA under 2.00. Also used Morgan awhile back and he did a solid job.

Really frustrating is this. Finishing up a standard $80 mil league. SP 1905 Frank Owen. Both in the same home park, Sportsmen's III. Both in the same division.

Mine. - 13 starts 76.1 IP 98 hits 1.62 WHP 6.01 ERA. 3W 10L. Just consistently horrid in almost every start. Only 2 unearned runs.

Opponent - 45 starts (28 g left inseason_. 21W. 8 L, 3.07 ERA. 1.24 WHIP 314 hits in 320IP. Consistently very good all year.

I actually like the younger Trout seasons... Average, speed and range. The more recent .285 45 homer high obp types are your typical modern sluggers that don't translate well.

I also have a good Pujols right now, but I haven't used him before. Same deal...pay up for average, doubles, A+ range and you can predict what you get fairly well. Don't pay up for modern power.

A Rod is never worth it, no matter how hard I try

I've never had success with any season of Trout. He K's too much!

A player I've discovered that is sort of a poor man's Mike Trout, that always performs well for me at a fraction of the cost: 1994 Shane Mack.

Did you stop using Owen after his bad start?

11 of his 13 were very bad. Moved on from him. Both of us drafted him and both had him in a 3-man rotation.

76 IP is still an extremely small sample size. You should have stuck with him.

This. You have toook at every start with a clean slate. Pitchers don't have "bad luck" or "slumps" in the sim. It's a roll of the dice and that's it. Luck was against Owen the first 13 starts, but I bet if you look at the other Owen he had spurts of inconsistency as well.

I have terrible luck, even in pitching parks, with very good relief pitchers from Colorado, who should kick butt in pitchers parks!
Gabe White And Steve Reed especially.
Also any asian pitcher except Nomo who ive had some good results.

1987 Dave Smith for me

Going against what I've seen, I'm taking the plunge with Hrabosky '81 on a new team. Every time I see his name in a sim boxscore, it's accompanied by a crooked number. Those numbers however just look too affordably good. There goes another team...

I love 1987 Dave Smith, especially for the price. Allowed zero HR's!
