1 opening in strongest low major D1 Conference Topic

The MEAC in Tarkanian has one opening. This would probably have to be the strongest low major in Division 1 in any world. The conference was ranked #3 in conference RPI this year, and #1 the previous year. Last year we sent 4 teams to the NT and 3 to the PI. The previous year we sent 7 teams to the NT. The conference has a B- prestige, which is rated "Good" in the conference prestige preference for recruits. We are close to the "Very Good" mark.

Delaware State has won the National Championship twice in the last 10 years.

It is a GREAT group of coaches that all get along - no drama. We have very little turnover. One of the other very unique things about this conference is that we have a Thread in the Tark Forums each year for the Conference, and many of the coaches also post their team outlooks in this thread. Here is a link to that if you want to check it out.

The Team that is available is Howard Bison, located in Washington DC:

Howard has a C prestige. It has had the same coach for 11 seasons. They play Triangle/Zone, one of two zone teams in the conference. Despite an 8-21 season, they should be a solid team this coming year. There are two seniors graduating, and one incoming recruit - a 3 Star PG from Texas. There are three Juniors, which will become seniors, but one of them will stay for a 5th year. The overall rating of the team is 664, and the team record would have been a lot better except for the competitiveness of the conference.

Hope you will consider joining us.

Still not qualified. :(

That's too bad. It may not be that easy to qualify for, with a C prestige, and the conference prestige being high. I think that has an effect, although I am not sure.

Yeah, I've been at D3 so long and while I'm literally qualified for ~C programs in Knight because of my D3 history there it seems to take longer to qualify for ~C prestige D1 programs from D2 without a title or serious sustained success. Right now at my Washington Adventist program I'm only qualified for D/D- prestige schools from lower prestige conferences.

My hope is that with the talent we have we'll make a serious run next season and if there's an opening then, I should be able to make a move but I'm wondering if I'll need an extra season of success first.

Not to hijack this thread, but this is an illustration of part of the problem with the jobs set up. By the time you’re “qualified“ for a job, it’s usually a major step down. 8 seasons ago, I was interested in joining this conference, but having recently taken a different low D1 position, was “not qualified”. At this point, joining them would mean another rebuild, and it’s a lot more fun just to play some of you guys in non conference than to be a doormat for the next couple seasons.
man that would have been awesome if you came 8 seasons ago. i don't coach there anymore but i would have liked to coach with you a bit. i am perhaps open to picking up a team in the conf in the future but i'd prefer not to be right next to chap for a variety of reasons. also would like a few months off. we'll see what happens. i'm trying to hold fast to not picking up any teams at least for a couple months but MEAC in tark is really the only destination i'm considering.

I wish I could have joined, but I just don't qualify.

Hey shoe - I'm not sure if I qualify since I cannot how long I was in Tark but if I qualify I might join your conference. Any idea how to see your Tark record?

Would love to have you in Big Sky, the MEAC-lite, lol. Great view, lower rent!

When you open HD, you should be able to view previously played worlds - I actually just had someone sitemail me about this, and I’m not positive about the answer - I think you might need to have a season purchased or at least available credits to ‘shop’ for a team. You should be able to see available teams that way.

Otherwise, if you remember what teams you coached in Tark, I can always look it up. Send me a sitemail if you want.

I think because you are only a few days away from accepting new coaches, you cannot see the available teams. I can see which teams are free but I cannot tell if I am qualified.

It might be because it’s job change period, and you’ll need to reserve a team, having not played last season. You might still be able to pick one up after the job change period.

Agreed with this. Starting off my goal was to make it to DI as quick as possible but then by time I was qualified my team at DII was good enough to stick around. I got my ring but now I’m still too attached to leave them lol

A few months off?! Haven't you been 'off' since like 2.0? I seriously don't think you've had since I arrived! I know you do some things for the HD world. But come on man, sign up your 7-10 teams and let's ball. It's ok to just play around and have fun. No one will make fun of you if you don't win 10 titles in 10 seasons. Join the party
