Do you think that Warren Sprague would take a ratings hit if I were to demote him from the ML to AAA this season?

Possibly. But he has a high Patience rating, so he might not. In any case, I would probably take my chances and send him down, because he is not a good Major League player, anyway.

I'd waive him and hope someone grabs him so I do not have to pay the 360k

I was hoping he’d gain the DiTR boosts but I think those days are long behind him.

I think his ovr is to high to get a ditr

No no I mean he did a while ago. Got the first big bump and then a few year over year. With the extra points I got him in the first year with my squad I was hoping I might get 1 or two more of growth.

Oh got it. I think it would take alot to get him to be a solid guy for you.

How often are DITR guys likely to hit their projected ratings. I'm a new owner and got sucked into claiming a couple DITR guys in the Rule 5 and off waivers. They are a couple seasons past their initial bump but still only 23-25 and getting small incremental increases. Is it likely a 23 yr currently rated 57 is going to hit his 75 projection?

None of them would ever make the ml roster for me. I cannot say how often they hit projections because the projections are based on your adv scouting so that varies from owner to owner and I use 0 adv always. If you can see how they have progressed so far you can tell how much more they are likely to get and I bet its almost maxed if not already.

Ed Blake will be a fine backup player in his cheap pre-arb years, but the other guys aren't worth the few points they'll gain in the next few seasons.

Ditr players rarely hit their projected ratings and the ones that do are usually the ones that got hit with ditr early years(year 1 or year 2; maybe year 3 if the have a high makeup rating).

It is the beginning of season 8 in that world.
Quintero was a DitR in Season 6 and has a makeup of 83, so he might have a lot of points of development left-- but he needs about 15 points per major category to have even back-end-of-the-bullpen value. I doubt he can get there.
Villa got his DitR in season 5 and has a makeup of 70; he's probably got 2-3 points of development left. That's not close to what he needs to get to the majors; not a player nor prospect.
Blake got his DitR way back in season 3, but he's a good 4-corner bench player or even a second-division starting RF as is.

Last one, how long after you have signed a FA do you have to assign him? And if you don't assign him by that time what happens? Figure I'll have sprague go through Spring training then drop him to AAA for the relief pitcher I picked up.

I think it's 10 real days.
I'm sure the player gets released if you fail to assign him.

Hey Hockey-- Sprague is 26, and got his DitR SEVEN seasons ago. He's not going to make meaningful ratings gains, and he's not an important ML player now. He's not the worst guy to rest your starting LF 10-20 games a season against RHP, but that's all.

If your 25-man can accommodate both him and the reliever that's one thing-- but if not, I'd take zero risks here with the relief pitcher. I'd demote Sprague now and not sweat the possible small ratings hit.

Everyone is right on Sprague it’s just a ‘dang it’ moment. You know when you get a prospect for peanuts and you think you are smarter then everyone else because he is going to be 80-80-60-60 fielding and 70-50-70-70 at the plate while stealing 30 bases a year? .......... well Sprague ain’t that! (Being a 90’s blue jays fan the name also suckered me)
