In MOST cases, I don't see it as personal attacks. Maybe consider it "game personal". Just as some of you don't care. Some do care. A few things to note.....
1) ab90 doesn't pay money. Sure maybe 10 years ago.
2) not paying is maybe a part of what some people don't like regarding his style. He uses the rest of us to pay for him. We build teams, he takes them repeatedly.
3) he's a quality coach when he needs to be. That's never been a debate. But his job hopping is so extreme that it obviously gets noticed by dozens and dozens that don't like it. So sure, if two coaches came here and said "we don't like this".... big deal. But I'd say there's more people that have a negative opinion of it, than the amount of people that don't care. So it's definitely a "thing". No matter which side you fall on.
4) my feelings are, one of the few issues I have is that I want everyone here to be playing the same game. He does not. It's a game within a game for him. When we leave teams, he takes them and has admittedly said he plays only to win the Amazon gift cards. Cool so be it. But as a community we're basically buying the gift cards for him. Hindsight, any human being could come here, take the best job available each and every season, never recruit, never game plan, and still by having a talented team, come out on the plus side, as far as credits. And literally make money off of it. Every issue I have with it is based around that...... is that what you want for your game? Does the community, CS, the site, etc want one guy standing in the corner doing weird things while the rest of us all participate in a normal way? That's the problem in my opinion.
So while some of you say "why does anybody care?" I have the opposite opinion.... how the hell can we NOT care? (Oh, and sure we don't have to leave our teams, and ab90 wouldn't get them, right? That's not the point. He's just playing a game within a game. One that the rest of us are not. And that's why it has people bothered. Whether a person is bothered by it or not, we all AT LEAST have to be able to see the community aspect of it. Bottom line is, it's just freaking weird!)
I’ve personally never had any problem with the team hopping. I don’t think it makes any sense at all for WIS to operate the incentive structure like that, but I don’t blame anyone for playing the game that exists in the way it is designed, according to its rules. I chuckled at the attitude sometimes, but I get that they were often getting piled on as well, so I’d give a pass.
On a related note, it’s kind of a good lesson for the folks who experience a kind of burnout after having a lot of success at lower divisions. Just move up. D1 is designed to be a different game with different, higher level challenges.
“Man, I’ve got 20 D2 and D3 titles, this game is getting boring, I could play it in my sleep. I need more of a challenge.”
”Why don’t you play more D1?”
”I don’t really like it. Early entries are too frustrating, and I don’t like how strong teams with A+++ prestige are on the recruiting trail.”
“???”
