It's not really an apt comparison. Maybe if we lived in a world where murder was legal but some people found it distasteful.

But addressing the REAL elephant in the room... D1 coaches are actually the best.

Hindsight, any human being could come here, take the best job available each and every season, never recruit, never game plan, and still by having a talented team, come out on the plus side, as far as credits. And literally make money off of it. Every issue I have with it is based around that...... is that what you want for your game? Does the community, CS, the site, etc want one guy standing in the corner doing weird things while the rest of us all participate in a normal way? That's the problem in my opinion.

So while some of you say "why does anybody care?" I have the opposite opinion.... how the hell can we NOT care? (Oh, and sure we don't have to leave our teams, and ab90 wouldn't get them, right? That's not the point. He's just playing a game within a game. One that the rest of us are not. And that's why it has people bothered. Whether a person is bothered by it or not, we all AT LEAST have to be able to see the community aspect of it. Bottom line is, it's just freaking weird!)

how do you guys care so much about a couple $25 dollar gift cards... its not like i am bill gates over here, but the implied rate AB is getting for his time is probably lower than chinese child laborers. i seriously do not get it. playing HD for money is non viable and just because one guy kinda trolls you about it one time, you are this upset by the notion? its kinda weird. a lot of coaches more or less play for free and it has basically always been that way. but one of those guys 'standing in the corner doing weird things' is what has you so upset?

i think the real question here is... who touched you and where?? (i couldn't find a good murder analogy, i think we should open up HD ethics conversations to analogies about child abuse and war crimes as well, just for good measure)

What's funny to me, is that out of probably 20 posts before me, I said the most reasonable things out of anyone. I didn't say **** off. I didn't say anything derogatory about ab90 at all. But yet y'all wanna focus on my thoughts.

Also I think one point that is missing from this thread so far is that ab90 has been a maaaaaaassive jerk on the forums before. Scroll thru his post history if you don't believe me. So, no, not sad to see him go.

To Top's point. What would HD be like if everyone just changed teams every season. Never (or very rarely) building up squads and just trying to find something that had best chance of winning the very next season. It would be a totally different game if 50-75% of users played like that. Would that be good or bad for the game? Is that how this game was intended to be played? Is that how you grow a game, build a user base, build a community and create something that is sustainable and successful? Personally I don't think so.

I would like to nominate Topdogggbm for “January 2021 HD Man of the Month” for provoking the shortest forum posts from gillispie1.

To gil and others who think this is a non issue...... we act two threads that are exactly the same right now. Farewell threads. And look how massively different they are both playing out..... paul, a great guy. Helpful to the community. Plays HD like the rest of us do..... lots of love for Paul being spread.

And then look at this thread. i mean come on! What more do you guys need to see, to realize that people don't like the choices he makes in playing this game?!

My man. That's cool. And I really was NOT trying to bash ab in this case. I really wasn't. I have in the past. But actually, he has kinda slowed his team hopping some anyways. And I was going to mention that, but then this thread turned into fireworks. And I love a good show.

was this a problem prior to him getting **** on in those couple threads? i mean, i totally agree he started THIS thread to troll. and that one about someone else throwing players or whatever was also trolling. but i looked at all that as a direct reaction to the prior threads where he got totally **** on for pretty trivial stuff.

i don't really recall him being a ***** on ab90 or a_in_the_b. not super active but a normal member of the community, was my recollection. i could be off about this, but i roughly look at the ab situation as one where a normal coach was fine for a decade and then a few months ago people got all ****** off and since then he's been kind of a dick, but i look at that as roughly an automatic response given what was heading his way. i DEFINITELY could be off here though or could have missed something in those 3 years away. if he was a dick prior to all that - then i am probably without a leg to stand on.

A point of correction: a_in_the_b is not ab90.

As an example not previously mentioned, I think a well-known incident that played out in the forums was when ab90 started a second account, creatively as abninenty. With said second account, he was guiltily, not once but multiple times, of violating the two-teams-within-1,000 miles rule in the same world. When this was brought to his attention, he chose to not be apologetic but aggressively defensive. This fed the idea that he was not a constructive member of the HD community.

But you act like I'm enraged and screaming at my TV or something. I'm not.

But I do not like what he does. And neither do most people. Whether you think so or not. Everything I wrote involving his choices, I still stand by them. But it's no different than you saying you don't like something about HD either. We all have our likes and dislikes that we talk about here. Some people want a new world. Some people want Press to be less powerful at the lower levels. I myself want loyalty and reputation to work correctly, to improve something I see as foolish in the game.

To me, it's all just about well rounding the game. And there's some things to me that are obvious fixes that wouldn't hurt anything, but could make the game better. And making this list, I'm HOPING that some of you can finally see my point. Ab90 is a term now in HD because of this mess.......

1) change the considering list to show more than 10 teams..... check! This one got fixed already.
2) Sr redshirt..... make it so they transfer. There's no way a three year starter would happily take a redshirt his Sr year (see PF/C Trimble on my Missouri team in Crum). The fact they don't transfer gives extra recruiting dollars for the next season.
3) ineligible players..... make it so promises can't be offered UNTIL they become eligible. Or make it so we're forced to honor those promises in their first playable season. Until then it's just free recruiting effort in some cases.
4) the ab90 rule..... fix the hiring process, reputation, and loyalty.

now can you guys across the street see that it's not about a one coach witch hunt?! It's just about making the game better. Top to bottom. With very simple changes. The only reason it turns into this mess is because of the history.
