Why would a park update require a budget change?
Who said it did?

So parks for teams currently in use will get changed mid season? That's not ok in my opinion. Changes are ok. Changes middle of the season or that require budget changes when we can only move 4 million at a time need to be done differently or you are going to drive out owners.
Think of it this way.............. your stadium was hit by a natural disaster (earthquake, hurricane, tornado) during the season, so you had to relocate locally to continue the season..........it'll be a funky adventure

Im all for making the game better. Adding new stadiums is a great start. I just do not want it to hurt owners. Other changes as well. Ones that require budget changes should be announced in time for teams to adjust. And since we can only move 4 mill a season that could be multiple seasons out.

I think that is why I made the post right now. You asked for heads up, if we were going to make changes. I am trying to do that, unfortunately if this game had coded by best practices each world would be able to hold a version of the code and upgrades would be done in the offseason. They didn't do that either. So our options are to continue to do nothing and let the game rot and eventually most/all of you will quit, or we can update slowly while we work on other upgrade projects, until we get to HBD. In which, then Chris and I will institute those practices.

When we put this in, in the March/April timeframe there is some time to adjust to the change. The truth is this should have been happening all along and the reason this is so impactful is because the previous dev team didn't do it.

If the previous development team would have kept up, we'd only be adjusting Arlington right now, or potentially updating park factors as the MLB season wraps.

Maybe I am wrong and this is a different conversation but the budget change in the last patch, that money has always been your organization's, just now you actually can use the last $1.999 million dollars instead of just staring at dead money.

Thanks for doing this. Happy to see work being done on this game to bring it current.

FYI, Miller Park in Milwaukee is now known as American Family Field.

Im appreciative about wanting to better the game. I just don't want to wake up and be in a different park. Could possibly put in all the new parks and note the old ones as going away at a certain date that way owners have time to adjust.

We certainly can do that, in the post I believe I said I have just started the audit, if not, then now you all know. I actually don't know which ones need to be updated at this point minus Minneapolis and that's because I am a Twins fan, and my first team I picked up was a Minnesota franchise.

I would be glad to publish a list when I have it, but if owners are curious while I dig, document, and audit the list they now have the option to quick look up their franchises as well.

A lot of them will probably just end up being cosmetic name changes but there will be full park updates, as well.

Thanks again guys!

Adam

Just to piggy back on that, post that is also why I put the potential patch dates on there. This will in March or April patch, and all of our patches have been the 2rd or 3rd Thursday of the month. I really tried to give you as much information as I have available to me right now. But right now I don't know which date it will be.

It's an in-season adjustment that affects one season and we are being told about it in early february. I don't know about you guys, but as soon as I heard that there would be a full audit, I immediately checked all MY stadiums to see if any of them have had a park change and only one of them had a park change (charlotte). After spending 5 minutes on Wikipedia, I was able to ascertain that Charlotte's new stadium will likely be a hitters park. If I don't like that, between now and the next season, I can choose to switch to another park that won't have such a drastic change. I highly doubt that new park factors are going to be drastic unless there was a completely new staduim built.

This is an exciting update that I appreciate and am looking forward to.

Thrilled that y'all are working to improve the game. It would be cool to see a list of changes, I can think of 3 (Tex-Minn-Atl) or so stadiums that will be updated and a few name changes. Keep up the work.

This is how I'd approach it. Add the updated park values with their new names and factors as newly selectable stadiums, mark the ones being phased out as "legacy" or something with a tooltip that lets owners know those items are going obsolete soon, then remove them in a future patch. It's less intrusive and disruptive, for sure. Gives folks a chance to prepare a bit more.

Not that that really applies to me, Neutral Park Lover

Chris and Adam, as a long time owner in HBD I greatly appreciate any updates you give to the game. As is the case when something new is introduced, work, person life or in this a game, it will take adjustments and time to get use them. I'm just happen to see a developer again, a qualified code writer, and the hope of improvements once again to a really fun game. Carry on, and looking forward to the improvements/updates.

As an Omaha owner currently playing in Rosenblatt Stadium, which is IRL a zoo parking lot, I'm terrified but grateful for the change.

One question: Can we get Principal Park in Des Moines instead of Iowa City?
