I would love to have a pro football and pro hockey dynasty.

If 4.0 happens it will likely be its own entity and not tied to 3.0. Totally different game and will probably have a different name. Envision two college football games on WIS.
That's what we need. More worlds filled with sims. They should consolidate worlds as it is so there is more competition playing real players instead of sims. IMO.
No one said worlds are being created. IF “4.0” becomes a reality it won’t be WIS GD, it’ll be an entirely different game, different coding, different engine, different look, etc!

vegascowboy's math is correct. Since 4.0 will have worlds, and 3.0 will still have the same worlds, that makes more worlds. How filled they will be remains to be seen. If they were to consolidate worlds in 3.0, I would be okay with that.

Having been around and in the middle of the HD transition to 3.0, I think this is probably the smart way to do it, assuming it’s feasible, rather than just snap the fingers and change all at once. Start with one new world. From there, you can open new worlds as demand requires. They could start transferring existing GD worlds to the new format if demand is good, and offer users credits or the opportunity to transfer rosters to an open team in another “legacy” world. Probably a good idea to keep at least a couple long term legacy worlds open, at least for the foreseeable future, until “4.0” is well established.

Gridiron Dynasty is tantalizing but frustrating. It’s close to a great game, but then there are stupid things like 100 touchdown seasons, and 300 game win streaks with no end in site, and it’s clear there are some systemic things that should be addressed, and probably require an overhaul, if they’re going to go to the trouble of getting into the coding (which is likely necessary). So I get the need. It’s the rollout that’s going to be tricky.

What people don't comprehend is if it is released it will be a totally different college football game, yes - two DIFFERENT College Football Games. The reason the term 4.0 was being used is because the game doesn't have a name yet. So no, there won't be any more "worlds" created...WIS GD will have the "worlds". It is yet unknown if "4.0" will have more than one "world".

No worries about a "rollout", if it comes to fruition it will be a stand alone game and have ZERO impact on the current WIS GD.

It would be good when the new GD game comes out to have a new world for the players. The previous rollouts used practice worlds and then overlapped them into the existing worlds causing great spasms in the number of coaches that stuck around after each change.

Yeah, I get all that. I guess the concern is that there is sort of a zero sum kind of scarcity at work, where “4.0” will be cannibalizing the user base. If people really like it, current GD will empty further (the concern goes). What happens to existing worlds and the coaches who want to stay? I don’t know the answer to that. Maybe that’s discussed by you all, I haven’t listened to all episodes discussing this. And I’m sure that’s a source of discussion with the developers and higher-ups. In a perfect world, people have lots of disposable income and free time and will play both, but realistically a lot of us are limited in one or both, and will eventually have to make choices.

That said, I am certainly not arguing against developing this 4.0 idea. I think a new iteration of the game, with some of the core concepts (that work) still in place, but taking a new approach to some of the concepts that get gamed and gimmicked in the current version, which produces some of these absurd and unbalanced and non-competitive outcomes, I think that’s a worthy endeavor, for sure. I’m excited to hear and see more about what they’re thinking and doing.

If 4.0 is good and people flock to it, that will likely create a "full world." Much better than what we have now.

Honestly, if "GridIron Empire" (the name I'm using instead of WIS GD 4.0) is as evolved, intuitive, realistic, intense, and exciting as I'm hoping it will be I'm sure I'll minimize my GridIron Dynasty exposure and focus more attention on GridIron Empire.

Exactly! So will other players. So how does that NOT result in emptier worlds in 3.0 unless they plan on consolidating or erasing some worlds?

Who said 3.0 won't lose some customers? Attrition is very likely. But consolidating and closing some 3.0 worlds will cause a decline in customers as well when you consider how outraged a customer will be who is losing the team(s) after spending time and money building the team(s). There's just no fair/equitable way to purge worlds. The business man inside me says post notice if worlds drop below X number customers for X number GD seasons in a row the world will be closed within X number of days. That could result in fewer worlds but more customers per world - justification for keeping a handful of worlds running. But none of this matters unless "GridIron Empire" becomes a reality. And I'm just glad I'm not the one having to make the tough decisions.
