KAT was one of the guys I thought very hard about as a more interesting pick than Chandler. I was just really worried that it would box me into subpar post defense on pretty much all my teams, particularly given Shaq's positional limitation, even though KAT could obviously spend some of his minutes backing Shaq up.

Wilt and Russell is a great start. Plus it gives you lots of flexibility. Just need to draft a couple plumbers and some milk men to round out the squad.

I strongly considered pairing him with Dwight. Maybe I should have.

Yeah he's definitely a better fit with Howard than Shaq, especially because (1) Howard is a better defender than Shaq and has the positional flexibility to cover Towns that Shaq doesn't, and (2) both he and Howard have a mix of tier 2 and 3 usage seasons, so they could sort of cover for each other in that respect. But it's tough to pull the trigger and commit to five seasons of sub-50 D in the second round. (Not that it couldn't pay off big time, just like it could with guys like Jokic and Nash).

Pretty dang interesting. I don't know if I'd have the balls to take Russell, but it does open up pretty interesting options in other positions. Curious to see where he goes with this.

Steph + KAT is super interesting.

KAT was definitely BPA, and gives you two great high-volume scorers and TONS of 3s already, but it leaves you with 2 poor defenders in your starting 5 as well. Interesting move. I’m sure you’ll make it work, but it’s one of the more interesting combos so far.
Wondering if jkaye embraces the lack of defense and just goes balls to the wall (or maybe in the air in this case) or tries to cover it up with defense everywhere else. Me - I'd just own it and see if an average to below average team can take it. No way you turn this into a good defensive squad so why middle it.

Yep. Exactly what is in my head. I was going to pair Curry with Russell...which is a step in the more balanced direction. But now, not sure there's any going back. That said, its not like I have Nash and Love. I'm on the wrong side of "good" but will be on the hunt for where I can get it to respectable while allowing efg advantage to shine. but 135-133 isn't better than 125-123 so I do need some sort of stopgap.

This fully covers my gamut of analysis on the matter.

Y’all keep acting like Steph has Nash like defense. Has 72, 68, 63, 58, and 53 iirc. That’s not terrible, and the best two stephs actually have the best two defenses. Is 68 a 90? No. But it’s also not a 39.

I imagine I have to put in a few more years, but I'd like to lay my claim to being the DeAndre guy. He did just get me to the finals of the 52 for the first time after *cough cough* years. Looks like we'll be together a while at this rate.

with that said cmon dh, we know what you're gonna do

Yeah, man, you discovered a gem there. Who knew a perpetual 70+ efg% / 40+ crb% was any good?
