New Prog needs to replace owner Topic

Hot Dog Progressive League just wrapped up its inaugural draft. We had an owner bail early in the draft and he is still MIA.
The team is all drafted and ready to go. Roster is posted below.

This league is a little different in that you only keep 8 players each season. You also are allowed to designate 2 players ( one pitcher and one position player ) as your Hot Dog players. You are allowed to use any previous season of that players career. Future seasons are not allowed.

There are two ways to designate your Hot Dog players. One is in your original keeper list of 8. The other is using a player you draft as your Hot Dog.
You are not allowed to use a keeper as a Hot Dog unless designated on your keeper list as the draft order is produced by the total salaries of your 8 keepers, lowest to highest.

The available team already designated Herb Score(1956) as its Hot Dog pitcher in original 8 keepers. Whoever takes over this team will have to select a Hot Dog position player from eligible players.

This progressive is starting with the 1962 season. All players with the exception of your Hot Dog players will be using 1962 seasons.

All teams have 29 players to work with Your 2 lowest salaried pitchers and 2 lowest salaried position players will be your real life AAA players.

Any questions post here or site mail me.

Many questions....

--Is this team an AL team (with DH) or an NL team?
--Would you grant a new owner exception to the hot/dog keeper rule? None of the rookie hitters drafted have particularly desirable past seasons, which makes me think this owner kind of messed up their strategy... Nellie Fox is the obvious "hot dog" choice for a new owner.
--When is the AAA call up deadline?
--Draft order is solely set by the 8 keeper salaries? (not record at all)? So zero incentive to not win as many games as possible?
--This post says it had the inaugural draft just now, but in the search I did, it looks like otherwise. In other words, how could there be keepers already if the first draft just happened? What year did this league start?

I'm a maybe, not a yes, but would be helped by answers to these questions. Thanks!

Oh also, I only count 28 players, not 29. Did the owner forget to make the last pick?

1. First we drafted 1962 franchises, in this case CWS.
2. Then we picked 8 keepers from that franchise, whose combined salaries determined draft order,
3.Draft ended yesterday.
4 CWS owner disappeared in middle of draft and did not open site mails.
5. This will be our first season.
6. Draft and full rules visible in Theme Leagues Forum

Hope you join us

To answer questions fatguyrd did not

Im sorry I can’t make an exception on the Hot Dot rule. Draft order is set by salaries and had he designated for example Fox as his Hot Dog would have changed draft order and who he drafted for at least a couple rounds.

I am not using the typical 120 game mark for transaction deadline. It is waived until end of season ( I think until 3 games are left).

There are 29 players I must have left one off. I will go back and check and correct list

I read the forum. Just want to make sure on a few more questions:

1) So this is an AL team, given real life franchise is LA and thus uses the DH, correct?
2) For future drafts, franchise is irrelevant, right? I'm not restricted to CWS players in future 8 keepers, draft picks, etc.?
3) Future drafts continue to have order set by salary of 8 keepers, lowest to highest. League record irrelevant, right?
4) We can continue to use a player as one of our 8 keepers who has ABs/PAs in Baseball reference but not WIS, but only if it's one of our 2 hot dogs, right? No players are drafted before their first eligible WIS season.

At this point (1962) there is no DH. We will have discussion about the DH when we get our private forum. Most likely will have a league vote.

2) For future drafts, franchise is irrelevant, right? I'm not restricted to CWS players in future 8 keepers, draft picks, etc.?

Correct franchise is irrelevant. It was just a starting point and a way to have 8 keepers so we were starting off like we will every season.

3) Future drafts continue to have order set by salary of 8 keepers, lowest to highest. League record irrelevant, right?

Yes that is right

4) We can continue to use a player as one of our 8 keepers who has ABs/PAs in Baseball reference but not WIS, but only if it's one of our 2 hot dogs, right? No players are drafted before their first eligible WIS season.

Yes. You would have to declare him as one of your keepers and have his Hot Dog salary count for the draft order.
