So I've been playing around with OOTP Baseball, did an inaugural draft starting in 1885 (imagine that), and got Sam Thompson with my 1st round pick.
In 1888 he produced this insane line:
.373 .434 .659 OPS+ of 234
20 2B, 26 3B, 24 HR, 48/72 in SB.
504AB 571PA
The league averages in my sim were very close to real life.
He would qualify for 661 PA/162, I'm thinking based on 1888 stats, his normalized numbers would something like:
.388/.450/.701, 5 2B, 4 3B, 7HR each per 100AB. This is SCARY!
Also add in B-/A- fielding and range (I looked these up).
The closest comparison I could find was 48 Musial, at just a hair under $14M. Musial had more PA, but didn't steal bases and was not as good in the field as what my Thompson did.
What do you all think would be a fair price for this season Sam Thompson just produced?
