I am looking to return to hd after a long time off maybe 2 real life years. What are the major changes? What do I look for in a team? Is it the same as before with pulldowns in recruting and ath being the key rating.

Hey Brian, its good to have you back! The only major change is with the job application logic. Its much easier to get to D1 and to qualify for jobs in D1 now. Its a great time to come back though. We've got some new devs that are working on regular updates... something this game hasn't had in 10+ years.

Team/player ratings are the same. Athleticism and defense are still both key attributes. To start, you just want to build a solid team. A couple shooters, a couple low post scorers, rebounding at the PF and C, ball handling and passing at the PG, etc.

D2 schools can start signing D1 recruits in the 1st cycle of the 2nd recruiting period. D3 schools can start signing D1 recruits on the last day of the 2nd recruiting period.

I just looked back and I guess it was like 80 + seasons ago in Wooden. What are the keys to pulldowns ( I think we used to use like 100 calls) ? It looks like recruiting is completely different.

There are no pull downs anymore. The recruiting is totally different. In the Pinned Topics section above posts like this there is
a Guide To The New HD 3.0 Release put up by chapelhillne. Very good information and a start to understanding the new recruiting system.

If a team is ran by a sim but not listed as available to reserve will it be available?

if by 2 years you mean 5 then yes you missed the huge 3.0 release with all its recruiting changes :)

but more importantly, welcome back!! always good to see one of the good ones come back. i took 3+ years off myself, right when 3.0 came out, and it was a bit of an adjustment. but overall i think its better (for d1 anyway - d2/d3 seem like a wreck to me but that is just my opinion, i think other folks like it).

I almost pulled the trigger on Idaho St, but resisted the urge, lol. I have to give retirement at least another couple seasons.

lol ?? Gotta admit I was kinda bummed you left Jackson St. but I understand not wanting to be in multiple worlds.

My guess is that someone else already reserved the team that you're referring to
