I think we should all make every effort to do a self eval. Here's mine

1. I could not have been happier with Bird. When I got 24 I had a board that got tough for me close to 20 and was very concerned. Thankfully DH swapped with me and I felt I would get a 1st rounder I would like. Would have been happy with Duncan, definitely KG. I grew up a Boston fan and Bird is my guy. I never wanted to draft SF early because there's so much value late with rebounders like Faried, defenders like Outlaw and other 2 and 3 headed monster options. But looking at the board I realized how much better he is to build around and allows you to take the best player.
2. Liked getting getting Payton again for his D, reasonably efficient play and chips in with 3's and boards in a couple seasons. The minutes are great too and give flexibility later. I was on the fence with Kidd or Payton. It was close, I honestly felt Kidd would have opened a lot more doors for me, my assists with Bird are close to done, rebounds great and excellent D. But the shooting with good not great Bird just made me too nervous.
3. Walton was my first slightly risk pick. Risk in that he plays so little for an early 3rd rounder. He requires back up help and probably should start only 2 seasons. But he's so good when he's in there and with my first two picks providing so much I thought it was the right time.
4. This was my first tough decision. As my pick approached I really wanted Amare for his elite scoring. There's no one like him left at this point and with Bird, I could just load up on D and cover him. 24 wisely took him and my plan B was Gerald Wallace. With Wallace and Payton my perimeter D is awesome, my assists are still solid with Bird and rebounding is great. Opens the door for a middling defender inside. But 20 grabbed him right in front of me. There just wasn't someone there who was an inside scorer all around player I thought worth it. Dirk doesn't score efficiently enough to offset the lack of D and rebounding. Vucevic isn't enough minutes and Boozer would be great but people seemed to have wizened up on his value. Tree was a bit early but with his D and good boards left me options to go with a weaker defender at the 2 or PF.
5. Very happy to get Willis Reed here, I think that's a bit of a value. 3 70 D seasons and a 90 D season. Good usage, solid 50-52 efg. Good boards. Not a great player but one that enables me to be more aggressive at the 2 and with back ups.
6. Resisted the temptation to draft a starter at the 2 and took a great back up in McMillan. The usage is a big drop off, but he's great everywhere else especially if you put shooters around him.
7.I was really hoping Reggie Miller would be here. Would have been a great fit. But this happens every draft where the right guy at the right time is gone. Batum is meh for sure. I took him because he has enough boards, assists and 3's to fit but Joe Ingles would have been a better pick. Miss by me there. Even a JR Smith/Buddy Heild e.g. combo would have been better. I prepped pretty good for 6 rounds and it showed here.
8. Blake Griffin fits well for me off the bench. McMillan is a good defender and I need his usage behind Bird, with good passing. Happy to get him.
9. Ugh. Savage lesson, don't go crazy with overly specific searches at 11pm after 3 glasses on wine while everyone is squaking about owners taking too long to pick. I will probably only use 1 season and it's only slightly better than McMillan. Better options would have been Fat Lever, Jason Terry, Eddie Jones, Jameer Nelson or evening allowing owners to skip me so I could wake up sober and make a half decent pick.
10. Gortat is solid. enough said.
11. Lonzo Ball has a season better than Darrell Walker, who mostly sucks.
12. Don't mind Eaton here. Bench D insurance if Gortat and Griffin turns into a layup line.

OK, I'll bite, but first I wanna say that dBKC's evals were possibly the best I have ever read!

1. Moses--that late in round one, he was a no-brainer for me. REBOUNDS+above average scoring+ above avg D.

2. Pippen--Coulda gone with Erving here but I had him last season and Pipp gives me more 3's with the same D and usage.

3. Pat Ewing--I shouldn't have been but I was thrown by the ABB format here. Still, I thought Ewing's lack of rebounding for a big would work well with Moses moving to the 4. Low post scoring and great D! Just seemed like an upgrade over my Moses/Amare pairing last season.

4. Eric Bledsoe--I'm not thrilled with Bledsoe. Thas why I haven't taken him in a savage league so far. Figuring correctly that Deron Williams and Penny would be gone, I wanted Derek Harper here, but he was taken. I didn't want to be stuck in the "no mans land without a PG", so I took Bledsoe to stop the bleeding.

5. Al Horford--I REALLY was hoping to land Gerald Wallace, Marques Johnson or Jimmy Butler here but they were all gone, so I settled for Horford, which isn't a terrible consolation prize. Above avg rebounding, eFG & D. Biggest problem is that he is a 96% D rating at the 3, where he will be playing most of his mins for me.

6. T-Mac--I didn't plan on taking McGrady, but at this point, I needed backup scoring at the 1, 2 & 3. I felt I could put T-macs best asst % seasons with Bledsoe's least min or asst % seasons and also match T-macs best scoring or rebounding seasons with Horford or Pippens least mins or scoring seasons. T-mac has three above avg D seasons & a couple average D seasons which I didn't think would hurt me all that much.

7. Clifford Ray--perfect elite rebounding backup for Moses.

8. Christian Wood--ONE stud season, put with what I feel is my strongest team.

9. Kirk Hinrich--I KNOW I am short on three's at this point. Hinrich gave me what I felt was the best combo of 3's, asst % and D of any PG left.

10. Kris Humphries--A nice complement to Moses & Cliff Ray for any seasons they could use it. Average to below avg D will keep him off the floor. Potential for a hot Kardashian in the locker room is always a plus.

11. D'Angelo Russell--Hate this pick but it may have been a necessity. Needed 3's and someone to stretch the floor. Will depend on my opponent whether I play D Russ or Kirk.

12. Elgin Baylor--just thought he would be a perfect fit for a guy who won't play many minutes, but if he had to, can do EVERYTHING well and play EVERY position.

well like an idiot I am up at 5 am on my day off might as well do self eval

1. Kevin Durant I looked at several guys left felt like he gave me more flexibility to pick best available in the early rounds of the draft.

2. Hassan Whiteside. He gives you 5 seasons of 12 orb and 30 drb only a few guys do that. I think he would go higher but he doesn't give you full mins most seasons.

3. Alonzo Mourning. He gives me 5 seasons of good usage def and efg and I like all those things

4. Derek Harper. I think like this guy more than other owners and I needed a pg in the worst way he gives me decent def and shoot a few 3s to help.

5. Bradley Beal. I feel like usage is important and wanted to back up Durant with a decent player. his advance stats are similar to Durant has about 3 seasons that should back up Durant very well.

6.Kevin Johnson. I don't use this guy much but has 30 ast in all 5 seasons and has decent efg and usage in a couple seasons that will help. Harper can cover def.

7 Swen Nater. He doesn't get drafted in odl or 52 much anymore but he like Whiteside gives me 12orb and 30 drb also gives 54 efg in 5 seasons his def really sucks but Morning, Durant and Whiteside should cover him.

8. Don Buse. basically drafted him for def he will back up Harper on most teams.

9. Joel Przybilla. He doesnt give quite the same reb in his best seasons but plays better def than Nater. He will play instead of nater on a couple of my teams.

10. Cole Aldrich. same as Prybilla will take some min away from Nater in a couple seasons.

11. Jeremy Lin. will back up Kevin Johnson

12. Michael Redd will play instead of Beal in a couple of Beals worse shooting seasons.

I think this team will do better than my season 2 team but not sure if its as good as season 1 team.

I agree with about everything dbkc said and it was a headache cobbleing my guards together.

Here is my evaluation!

1) Chris Paul: was debated between him and Kareem, at the end I opted for Paul because of AST% and D, which in my view is hard to reach in later rounds compared to post scoring and D
2) Dikembe Mutombo: looked now for some D and Rebounding upfront
3) Carlos Boozer: probably this is a bit of a reach, too early, I wanted to grab high efficiency and usage scorer for the frontcourt. Was debated between him and Noah to double down on the AST Paul gives
4) Alvin Robertson: i like Alvin, i try to pick him once possible in what may be a good spot. probably would have been available later. To me, it offers REB advantage at the position of PG, he will be backing up Paul and starting at SG
5) John Henson: looking for SF with good O REB and D, probably I should have gone with Kevin Love to have threes in the frontcourt.
6) Dan Roundfiled: another SF-PF with good REB and D, had him also in Savage 3
7) Mike Miller: not very happy about this pick, I was a little panicking not to have enough 3. Miller is awful on defense, will try to compensate this with Robertson. Though, he rebounds well and shoots high percentage
8) Cedric Ceballos: backing up Miller and Robertson at SG, another good O Rebounder for the position with good USG and EFG
9) Elvin Hayes: I felt I need a boost for D upfront, I will play him sparing minutes except for his 50 EFG season
10) Alex English: probably I should have gone with a 3 point shooter here or someone with better REB or AST % (a point guard?). Anyway, Alex give USG and also some not so bad REB at SG
11) Jeff Ruland: some nice EFG and AST in the frontcourt, picked him over Daugherty due to AST and O REB
12) Myles Turner: I do not know how much he will play, he is not a beast on REB, but gives at least some 3

Conclusion: I am probably light on AST, as DBKC pointed out, I regret not having drafted another AST SG / SF. Also, may be light in 3. Think this team will do worse than savage 3 team, where If i am not mistaken I had 2 teams advancing in the playoffs

2. jhsukow - Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell, Kyrie Irving, Kobe Bryant, Paul Millsap, Otto Porter, J.R. Smith, Baron Davis, Eddie Jones, Mason Plumlee, Brandon Rush, Marquese Chriss

1. Great job. You lucked out and got the second pick.

2. Create a bidding war with yourself for a guy who shoots 37 eFG and has 24.31 tov%.

3. Kyrie is doesn't have a lot of minutes and doesn't play defense. Not a bad guy to have, but can't be your lead PG. just don't wait until the 8th round to get a PG...

4. Kobe has a lot of minutes and low tov% and plays great D. He doesn't really hurt you anywhere...unless you are taking about the most imporant stat, eFG. if you include that stat he is kind of a lead balloon.

5 and 6. These are arguably your only good picks. Pick these guys again next year,

7. What can be said? I mean honestly. You were doing so well and then you just could't help yourself. You were ahead on minutes and had Khris Middleton right there. Hours had passed with him as your guy...you got the sm and typed J.R. Smith.

8. Baron Davis. He is fine here in theory. You are asking way too much of him in your build though.

9. Eddie Jones is good value for this team. This was a fine pick.

10. Mason Plumlee is also good. You are starting to turn things around.

11. Brandon Rush. You set up a rule to not pick him before Jamario Moon was drafted. That was some what smart. Why not just draft Jamario Moon?

12. Good job.

Conclusion: Maybe 5 good picks? And one of those plays18 mins total in five worlds. Wilt can only do so much, man.

Dude, jhsukow, you consistently crack me up.

David Robinson - On personal preference, would've rather had Hakeem, but DRob's better in SIM.
Jokic - Thought I'd give an offensive twin-towers a try. DRob will be able to cover the opponent's better PF/C, though this means I'll still get hammered by some teams with 2 good offensive bigs on the floor. Love a big with his Ast% and a few 3s.
Manu - Never used him before in a draft league, and with Jokic I can play any of Manu/Iggy/Ingles/Coop at PG. Wish he had more minutes, but what he brings is great.
Emeka - There were better guys to mix with who I had, but I wanted to get what Okafor brings as a 6th/7th-man before the quality was gone. Good Rebs, decent Def, good eFG%, Usg usually around 20. Maybe a miss, maybe not.
Iggy - Another guy who can shift down to PG. I'll be using some GS years and 11-12.
AC - I really needed a SF that can rebound/defend before they were gone, and AC felt like a great fit.
Ingles - 3s, Asts, decent Def Rebs since I'll be playing him PG/SG. Except his 19-20. The guy's got flaws, but opening up the floor for my bigs seemed worth it.
Cooper - Will be using him as a backup PG/SG, pairing him with Ingles to cover some Def.
Larry Smith - What can I say? I like the dude's Rebs, even though his Def is horrible. A homeless man's Rodman. He won't be getting a lot of minutes, but he'll probably be getting more than I gave him S3.
Granger - I needed a Pacer and someone with high Usg off the bench. His efficiency is just ok, but he gets 3s, defends, and he'll have decent Rebs. Not great, but at this point in the draft he felt like a good bench-scorer.
Oliver Miller - Def, eFG, some passing, not a good rebounder. I liked what he brought me in S3. He'll be getting backup min in 3 leagues, and starting his 93-94 in the league I have 15-16 Jokic.
Derrick Rose - Planning on just using his 19-20 for a high-Usg backup season. A couple other leagues he'll be a 'break glass in case of emergency' guy. I was never a big fan, but it's hard not to root for the dude after his injury luck.

3/24/2021 12:32 PM
My Savage III team had the worst rebounding in the league. I was also light on threes. So, going in I was hoping to get more threes and better rebounding.

1. Magic Johnson - I was hoping John Stockton would fall to me here, but I didn't think he would get past Ben and he didn't. Magic Johnson is not a bad consolation prize. There is not an overabundance of good point guards with five seasons, but I got one. He would not have been there at 26.
2. Rudy Gobert - My main goal with this pick was to take a player who can speak French fluently and he does. I could have taken Tony Parker or Nic Batum here, but I decided to go with Gobert.
3. Ray Allen - Allen can't speak French, but he can shoot threes. 1,067 threes at 42%. I considered Walt Frazier here, because I think he is a better overall player, but my board of directors had instructed me to get more threes. Also, we can have a Jesus Shuttlesworth bobble head doll night!
4. Montrezl Harrell - I was hoping to get Jerry West here, but some idiot convinced kinoa to come back and he took him. He would have given me a guard who could play defense, some good passing, nice usage, good scoring, a logo, and the flexibility to play Magic at three different positions. Aw ****! Anyhow, Harrell gives me excellent eFG% and good usage. I was hoping for more minutes, but (I'm not sure how to finish this sentence.)
5. Dave Cowens - Cowens doesn't do any one thing great, but he is pretty good at a lot of things. I guess the best thing he does is provide A LOT of minutes. I probably took him a little early, but he would not have been there 40+ picks later.
6. Bam Adebayo - He gives me one really nice season, and another season that is usable. Does anyone know if he speaks French?
7. Domantas Sabonis - I was torn here between Sabonis and John Collins. I ended up taking Sabonis because he has better rebounding and passing. After missing out on Jerry West (Aw ****!) and Kevin Johnson, I thought I was going to need his passing to avoid the penalty when Magic sits.
8. John Havlicek - WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY HAVLICEK ISN'T THERE? IT'S THE EIGHTH ******* ROUND!
8. Troy Murphy - I had wanted to take Havlicek here, BUT SOMEBODY ELSE TOOK HIM WAY TOO EARLY. IT WAS NOT WAY TOO EARLY FOR ME, IT WAS JUST WAY TOO EARLY FOR HIM! Havlicek would have given me a 90 defender who could have covered for Ray Allen and Magic Johnson. Midge, you're a genius! He also would have contributed with his passing and usage. The sad thing about this is at this turn I was going to take Havlicek, and then take either Christian Wood or Troy Murphy. Then amerk took Wood right before me and for some reason I just wrote down Murphy instead of Havlicek. Oops.
Anyhow, Murphy has 30.7 DReb% and nice passing for a PF, and 58.0 eFG%, and 161 three pointers. He also has a solid 33 defensive rating that I'm hoping to hide behind Gobert and Cowens.
9. Rodney McCray - He is actually a pretty good value for the 9th round. It was pointed out to me that he is actually a better player than Havlicek. Unfortunately, Havlicek would have been a better fit for my team due to his defensive flexibility, more usage and higher Ast%. I do like McCray, but his low usage% is contibuting to some tricky team building.
10. Jeff Hornacek - He will back up Ray Allen for five seasons and Magic Johnson for four seasons. Five seasons of defense from 56 to 52 (better than Ray), usage% of over 20, eFG% from 56.2% to 51.6%, Ast% from 15.0 to 18.9, and A/T from 2.4 to 2.7. 372 threes at 43.4%. I think that's not bad for a 10th round pick.
11. Brandon Clarke - He will backup Rodney McCray for one season. I'm kicking myself because Michael Porter was there, I like Michael Porter better, and I took Brandon Clarke.
12. Tyreke Evans - He will backup Magic Johnson for the one season that Hornacek isn't 100% at point guard. Excellent usage% and Dreb% and acceptable eFG% and Ast%.

If I had it to do over I would have given kinoa a bunch of wine in the 4th round so he would have taken David West instead of Jerry West. I also would have taken Michael Porter over Brandon Clarke. I want some candy.

Ok, I've taken a look at the rosters and here are my predicted rankings for the final regular season standings. I'm only predicting regular season standing because the head-to-head matchups in the playoffs are difficult to model with confidence. I predicted the top 4 in order, but after that left some room for variation because I had to assume which seasons you were picking and how the squads are arranged. Just my best guesswork, but I feel pretty confident in top 10.
