Anyone else notice a lot of redshirt players are declining their 5th year option? Until this season, I had never seen it happen... not sure if it was altered in a patch, but it's happened to me and a few others in Tark this season.

A lot of ineligible players? Redshirt players are not 5/yr seniors and they don’t have an option. Also, ineligible players need to keep a minimum cumulative GPA or they don’t be eligible for their 5th season, I’ve never had someone who was eligible decline, but I have some coming up and will see what happens.

Just took over KST and this was the guy who isn't returning. That said, TTU in Tark and a few buddies who play all have had RS guys opt out of the 5th year... Unless it's a mistake in the patch, I may have to think twice before redshirting kids going forward.

This guy looks like a 2-year JUCO who RS'd his 1st year. No reason to think he'd be eligible for an additional year, he's out of eligibility.

I think you may just have your wires crossed. Ineligible kids will always come back for a 5th year as long as their grades are good enough. Redshirted players will stay until their senior season unless they were to go EE. They guy you posted is just a JUCO player who redshirted a year. He has no more eligibility.

They are correct, you are looking at players who were JUCOs so they only got two years of eligibility to start, they ended up staying three years because of the Redshirt.

However, also in DI, ineligible will not always come back, it even says in the FAQs they are granted a fourth year of eligibility if their cumulative GPA is 2.7 or above and IF THEY CHOOSE to return, so they can choose to not return, it might not be common for them not to return but it’s possible

if its 2.7 they always come back and if its less they never come back (this is re: d1). there's no 'choice' so to speak

the only 'choice' with ineligibles is whether they attend at all to start with (a choice for d1/d2 only)
