D3 Schools Signing Rated Recruits Topic

There is no way a D3 school should be able to sign a recruit rated in the top 150 at their position. It just does not happen with of course rare exceptions. I see a D3 school with C+ prestige signed 3 that ranked top 150. Completely unrealistic.

Maybe jump to D2. It patterns real life a bit more realistically.

Either people in this world are asleep (or there are not enough of them) or the recruits are overrated with serious defects. But in my opinion, I would rather a human player who wants them get them over a crappy AI team.

A lot of holes in this. 1) just because the player is rated high doesn't mean he's actually good. 2) I agree that players that are expected to be that talented going to D3. But player rankings coming out of high school aren't accurate. 3) if you're saying that this team that signed him is a D3 sim, and the player was from the D1 pool, that just means there was a human at that school in RS1 and then likely left to go to another job. And then the sim finished up what the human already started.

D3 sims don't start out recruiting D1 pool players

I also think that with the easier access to D1 for humans, and D1 filling up more, this will become less likely because a D3 coach cannot compete with a D1 coach that wants that player.

Recruiting in this game is not very realistic. Pretty common for D3 and D2 teams to beat D1 teams for recruits. It is what it is.

what's the difference between recruiting period 1 and recruiting period 2? and can players sign at any time in-between?

The first recruiting session (commonly RS1) happens during the regular season. When it begins depends on if you’re in a 1x or 2x world, but it always starts during conference play, and wraps up right before the conference tournament. The second session (RS2) happens after the job change period, and before season rollover. The second session is shorter, and is kind of a mad dash.

Players have a signing tendency of early, end of period 1, late, or whenever. They do not sign between sessions, however. Importantly, a player from the D1 pool who has an early or EOP1 tendency will sign with any D1 school who has a scholarship offer and an open spot, provided they do enough to get above moderate consideration. D2 and D3 teams can’t get past moderate on D1 pool recruits in the first session, no matter what they do. This is known as the “red light”. This means that even when a lower division school might be ahead in effort credit, a D1 team can come in on an early or EOP1 recruit at the end of the first session, and take the recruit with no battle. This will sometimes look like the D1 school is listed as “high” instead of “very high” in the considering list. D3 teams are behind the red light on D1 pool recruits until the final 24 hours of the RS2, and the same one-division red light until the start of RS2 on D2 pool recruits.

If you click Schedule on the toolbar, and click World Schedule, you can find it there. RS2 is 3 days long and it ends there, on different dates in each world

The second session is the last part of the season, it ends a handful of hours before season rollover. You can always view the precise dates, and where you are from the team front page by Schedule > World Schedule.

It doesn't say when signings end, which is why I'm asking.

If I rescind a scholarship, I can only try to fill that spot during RS2?

Signings end with the end of the recruiting session. As to your second question, that’s correct, if you rescind a scholarship and intend to replace that player on next years team without having a walk on, you will need to do that in RS2. I will generally try to line up another late signing recruit, and as long as it’s not a guy I signed that I plan to cut, I can count on having some resources in the second session to drop some visits on him if needed.

But unless you play FB/Press, there’s usually no real harm in taking a walk on either, if you don’t have a better option lined up from the first session.

thanks. it's my first season at a school and first season back to HD in a long time so I can't remember how it works. there's 3 or 4 guys that are completely useless that I might cut regardless if I can sign someone to replace them
