question is specifically the -3 for RF HR vs 0 for LF HR

does this mean there will be an across the board HR repression (call it -1.5 HR), or will it specifically target LHB as RF would be their pull side power?

Specifically targets LHB as all hitters are treated as pull hitters in sim.

excellent, thank you

Personally, I don't think the -3 rightfield HR factor is as much of a HR suppressor as one might think because I pay at Hilltop with most of my teams which regularly include 1928 Jim Bottomley (a left-handed hitter) who routinely hits thirty or more homers for me.

Not all -3 factors are the same, I believe it’s a rounded number, but not 100% certain. Also with the high park factor, there’s gonna be more hits, and with more hits, a higher chance for XBHs like homers

D_rock is correct. The Hit modifications allow for more xbh/hr,so you're still gonna see good numbers from LH HR hitters.

But righties will do better regarding power in Hilltop.

Edit: I also play in hilltop with just about every team.

I've got a chart here that has the full range for each ballpark modifier, along with a breakdown of the hitting tree and how the park effects interact with the hitting tree.

Just doing the math in my head from the chart, a LH hitter who hit .300 with 30 HR in 500 AB in Hilltop against league average pitching would see a batting AVG increase to .341 in same # of AB (150 hits to 170 hits) thanks to the hit modifier, and would see their 30 HR decrease to 26 HR due to the -HR modifier. This impact isn't as large because the tree uses the hitters HR/H ratio and in Hilltop they are getting more hits to begin with. In a neutral hit park with -3 HR, they'd be expect to hit 23 HR. Because of the +3 hit effect, it ends up working more like a light -2 HR effect.

The irony, of course, is that the team that played in Hilltop, the Highlanders, would later change their name, their game, and their stadium, moving to one noted for a short right-field porch, and Death Valley for right-hand hitters. What might have been Joe Dimaggio and Elston Howard...

That seems about accurate from my experience. I may even say it acts more like a -1/-1.5 HR effect, but the only left-handed power guy Ive been using is Ruth and he's a little harder to judge! ha

Try Bottomley. He has 6/2b#, 3/3b#, and 6/Hr# normalized numbers, will hit hit about.350 or more, with lots of doubles, triples and HRs, and is regularly in the mix for MVP. He's on all of my Hilltop teams.

That season of his is highly underated...does well at all caps

He looks great - he just doesn't fit the mold I usually go with at 1B. My Hilltop teams are built around A++ range, and then typically have 1918 Ruth at 1B. With the loss of AAA I've changed that to 1894 Connor or 1914 Cravath. If I ever find myself with $7m for a 1B though, I'll definitely check out Bottomly!

Your support of Bottomley is suspect Bottomlee

Bottomley and Ripper Collins on the same team back when ssupfoo ran roster twist leagues, boy when I tell you I consistently scored the most runs...
