the recent collapse on my part not withstanding, pex, you've never been shy about getting lots of boards. in any league it's a mix of everything. some amount of inefficiency can be stomached in this league, but it likely has to be coupled with low usage, boards, assistst, volume 3s and/or defense. The Connie pick was a less offensive attempt on this front, but it hasn't totally worked out. Of course I immediately coupled him with Collins.
robusk (much as I hate to admit it) has always maintained that there isn't enough of a benefit of getting assists beyond the floor. The numbers seem to still agree with that philosophy. I have experienced a difference between 52 and 57, much as I've heard it's a step function, but no team I've had has experienced any notable jump in efficiency upwards of 65. I think it's because turnovers usually accompany assists, and a possession the forfeit of a possession. Rebounds with low turnovers, high boards and acceptable efficiency is always apt. (scorching hot take section: There are some guys (like Elgin or Westbrook) who can defy their inefficiency by making large contributions on rebounds for their positions, and high usage/low efficiency guys can be useful in this league with the right low usage/high efficiency guys around them and 3s. Just as a real usage whale like Harden can lift low usage defenders to a respectable offense, so too can a fake whale like Westbrook lift low usage defenders to a respectable rebounding margin, at the very least. Or DeMarcus Cousins, or someone like that. Embiid is the best of these, at least for now. anyway. It's kind of like a reverse Trojan horse, where the real players reveal the Trojan horse within, at least for as long as needed)
