I haven’t read this thread so someone may have mentioned this but I would absolutely LOVE one very simple change. Please, please, please add a drop down for home visits on the recruit page. I think we all have better things to do than sit and click the home visit button over and over and over again!

I have thoughts on actual game changes as well but this would be helpful as well....
yes! especially on days when it takes a good 10 seconds to reload the page after each hv.

and finally! a change that we can all agree to. dogg, me, shoe, benis - we can all support this change in peace and harmony, because you literally have to be a monster not to support a dropdown box for HV.

let's make this official. HD 4.0 - now with a dropdown box for home visits. coming some time 2022.
I heard from an elf that this change just might be coming soon ..............

How lazy are you guys. There are bigger issues than just having to click a button a few extra times. I mean. Cmon. What a bunch of whiny snowflakes.

I kid. I'm on board.

12 pages of discussion on what should be updated/changed in HD, and not a single person mentioned promised minutes for ineligible players needing to be addressed. There are about a dozen other good ideas in here that have not been implemented though.

Well to be fair, some of the better and more important ideas did happen, like job requirements and an HV drop down. I can take it or leave it I guess, but in 6 months I think we’ll all have forgotten about it.

The ineligible promises issue was something I have been pushing for in one on one conversations with Adam. Because i use the hell out of it.

Also I've pushed for something different to be done with Sr redshirt stuff. Because i abuse the hell out of that too! Possibly that either the senior mentions he will leave, or just not allowing the extra resources that come along with doing so. Maybe we'll see that fixed as well. I'd prefer the latter. But I don't run the show

I would like more recruits. It doesn't seem right that most every Big6 school has to take at least 2 walkons. It would be nice to see more recruits in the 550-600 range. It seems like when you get to a certain level, it's all in for almost every recruit you try for. 20k for 5 openings allows you to go all in on 4 guys if you're lucky. Whiff on one and now you have 2 walkons. There seems to be no room for error and I think it would add parity to the game.

This would be improved by just capping the levels so d2s and d3s aren't signing players who could be on d1 squads.

Along this line from what you mentioned jimmagnum, and to help teams with EE's, and to help coaches switching teams: At the start of the 2nd recruiting session add five 3* recruits, five 2* recruits, five1* recruits, and 35 other no rated star D1 players to the player pool in each world as it rolls into the 2nd session. With the number of D1 coaches increasing in most worlds--the number of new recruits might have to be increased. This would also increase the strategy of recruiting--how much scouting and recruiting money do you hold back for the second session?

The big changes I want for jobs are really some of the biggest problems for the new user experience, I think. I definitely don’t want firing to be increased, not with the game as it is now, that would be ridiculous.
This was from a long time ago but I want to weigh in on this. As a new (returning) user I feel like the current owners are doing a great job helping new and returning owners out with the discord forum, mentoring etc.
The biggest dilemma now is that there are still lots of room for new owners to make mistakes........ which they probably will. New owners will take 1 of 2 approaches to this. 1) Its a learning process. I expect to be bad for 5 ish seasons while I learn the ropes. 2) I'm at a massive disadvantage until I figure this out (either causing them to stick it out or to leave). Even as someone with a mentor and a TOOOOOOOON of help I still managed to make 3 big rookie mistakes that will set me back a few seasons (put too much into scouting D3, withdrew a promise from a player who had me as very high causing him to blacklist my school, spent too much recruiting money in a battle with another school over a JUCO while my team is in a rebuild).

For the sim leagues there are are exhibition leagues. Maybe something like that could be set up for HD? You sign up, get 4 seasons that only consist of the conference tournament and then maybe a mini NT, seasons last maybe a week and after the 4 seasons your account is locked out from competing in the exhibition league. The whole thing would take maybe a month. It would give new owners a chance to make mistakes quickly while learning from their mistakes quickly. Combine that with the discord server and mentoring and now you have owners joining worlds that are in it to win it and that won't make big mistakes that effect them or other teams in their world.

That would be helpful for game planning, but I think the recruiting learning curve is just as (or maybe more) difficult. The only valid way to learn the entire game without paying would be some sort of free practice world where you get 2-3 seasons before it locks you out.

But if you're going to spend 90 days working on a team, wouldn't you rather be able to stay with that team rather than starting all over again? I don't know. I guess a free world would be a good way to attract new users. But if there's only 20 coaches in that world at any given time, are they really learning any of the deeper strategy lessons?

I feel like your big rookie mistakes are going to happen at some point. You're going to make more, and there's no way a mentor can cover all of them beforehand. It would be nice if you could make those types of mistakes in a "free world" environment, but you'll be making mistakes for a long time haha. We all did, and I still make stupid mistakes all the time. Unless you want to spend 20 seasons playing for free, you're going to pay for mistakes (in time and money).

Basically, I think my point is that an exhibition league could be helpful for learning how to navigate the game, but its not going to really do a lot for learning strategy, which is where most of your worst mistakes will occur. Therefore, I'm not sure how much value it would actually add in your specific example. Conversely, I do think that helping new coaches navigate the game could be a great addition.

Are the top top teams, the elites facing the possibility of EE's, really the coaches that most need recruiting welfare? Or would it be the middle and little teams that need some help, creating more competition and parity? Or are competition and parity the bogeymen to be avoided by the top top teams? Just wondering.

One of my better ideas (from the standpoint of someone with no financial interest in the product) is having D3 be a free-to-play, no credit sandbox. It could be completely separate, no scouting overlap (so a different pool of recruits), which would give some folks what they so desperately want - CAPS (for D3 anyway) - and would encourage many of the vets currently parked there to move up to the higher levels. Of course some will stay, probably many. If it’s free, it will also be a good place for vets to just try things. So I doubt it will completely empty, either. But the competition won’t be quite as fierce, and no more waiting until the last day of the last sessions for the D1 dropdowns.

It’s kind of radical. I’m convinced it’s a great idea, and if I were starting the game from scratch, this is absolutely what I would do (assuming I was convinced a college basketball coaching sim needed 3 divisions which I am, well... not). But I do understand it’s pretty risky, from an established brand point of view.

Honestly, I think it's hard to keep people interested in a completely free game. I like the current new user promo because it is cheap enough to appeal to most people and keeps them invested for five seasons. They have an incentive to improve their team or move up to D2. They will get to play with some of the players they recruited, which I think is very important for new users to see the appeal of the game.

Basically, I think it's important that they have made a minor financial investment to the game. If it's free it's much easier for people to just bail without even giving the game a chance.
