Ashburn hit over .300 for the Mets in 62’ but I seem to recall that the emerging reputation of the Mets as lovable losers didn’t sit well with him and he retired.

Yeah this is brutal. I can't believe so many of you jumped into the 50's-80's. The evils of drafting early. . . I guessed wrong. I figured way more would go current day. Ahh well them's the breaks!

When in doubt draft someone who gives you options.

1951-1955 is the period with lowest amount of teams now. I was leaning Mays with my pick until I decided to lock up lead off spot.

As a broadcaster, Ashburn often told the story that he received a cabin cruiser for being named the MVP of the '62 Mets, and shortly thereafter, the boat sunk.
