Gil, Shoe, This one's for you! Topic

Fresh off my first D1 title, Missouri - Crum, I just wanted to give a shout out to you two (insert four letter words of all kinds here please)!!!! It took about 25 total D1 seasons spread across 4 D1 teams/wolds to get it done. But I did this to prove specifically, that "D1 coaches are the best" is NOT necessarily a true statement. That thought process ate at me more than any comment ever made in these forums. (I'm a D2 coach at heart)

All kidding aside, thanks for the wars, arguments, fights, indirect advice, and all that other good stuff. Not just you two, but the community as a whole. Just wanted to say as much as we bicker, it's all in fun. And this is a great community to game with.

Communicating with the legends of the game has allowed me to accomplish legendary things. Passing that wisdom on to the coaches behind me is what I'm probably most known for, and best at. Not a lot of goals are left to accomplish, so from here on out the competition takes a backseat to teaching for me. Whatever success comes next is just icing on the cake.

Always remember..... D2 coaches are just as good!

Top-Congrats on the title my man!

Congratulations on your first D1 title! I've always considered myself a D2 coach at heart, but I will say that learning how to succeed at D1 has undoubtedly made me a better coach at every level.

Thanks guys. I've gotten many congrats along the way. Nice to hear from some of the guys I pal around the HD world with. Appreciate the support and kind words!

(And slam I consider you a D2 coach as well. Also I'm not sure how I screwed up Naismith scheduling and left you off. We'll get back on track with the home and homes the following season. My error)

Congrats topdoggg! I'm a grateful follower of you, gil, shoe, and other coaches I consider legends. I'll always wish you success unless we happen to be playing one another...

Lol

Doggg, you’re a great coach, and I don’t think anyone doubted that you’d get titles once you gave up the hang ups and took the dive and tried D1. I certainly didn’t. People who know what they’re doing and have the drive to win titles are going to probably win titles if they keep at it, regardless of the level. D1 just throws a few more frustrating things at you, usually including more (and often better) competition. I think that’s the point people make. I don’t know who put in your head “D1 coaches are the best” - that’s certainly not a direct quote from me, but maybe you took something like what I said above and just made what you needed out of it for motivation. And if that’s the case, then you’re welcome. :)

Actually I'm pretty certain also that you didn't say that. I just wanted to lump you in with gil and others who have said that. Simply because you and I love to argue Haha. So I didn't want you to feel left out!

But thanks man. Just a silly thread, BUT with some truth behind it!

Sometimes, the tides can turn in unexpected ways. Good luck in doing so!

Congrats man... that was quite a team you put together rather quickly. I still think D1 championships are more difficult because you have to deal with EE's and baseline prestige, but that just shows that you're a great coach who can win at every level.
