How you gonna get any better against it if you avoid it?

anyway, I didn't read the whole thread but wanted to chime in that I was commenting on a CC recently that FCP *was* effectively being nerfed at D1 with the increased population there. it's already getting much harder to get full rosters when even your backups and role players are all well contested. there's not enough money to go around when you have to actually pay for every player, haha. I'm actually switching a FCP team to man because I can't get a deep enough roster regularly anymore!

re: other divisions, i don't play D2 or D3 so anything there means nothing to me.

It's all about the roll. As is everything with D1. If you win your rolls, you can build a strong press team. If you don't win your rolls, it gets difficult. As far as the press. Game planning CAN help. I've won some NT games in current seasons that maybe others didn't expect me to win. But without winning some rolls in previous seasons, I wouldn't have been in the position.

You mentioned D2/D3.... still sucks when you lose a roll. But there's always players you can sign that are serviceable. Much much easier to recover. In D1, recovering from roll losses is way more difficult.

sure, losing rolls is a factor, but I disagree that it's *all* about the rolls. I think it's just as much about being able to acquire useful assets for no cost at all. that's getting harder at D1 with a bigger population.

very valid point... anyone who wanted a press nerf in d1 effectively just got it.

Brokenee was a legit coach in phalen for 30 something years, but the last 3 years he sounds more like an old man yelling at clouds in the park.

Shoe, you make a good point about D1 being full now and it being harder to fill out a FCP team. I’ll take a second look a FCP teams going forward. And the slider for split defenses would be great. I run m2m - 1/2 ct press from time to time and would do it more if the sim lended itself to it better.

I am about to end the year as a top 10 team for the 4th time in the last 5 years and the one year I didn't finish top 10 was because I sent 4 young student athletes to the pros, but I scheduled like I was only going to lose 3. I also won a national championship in the last 5 years and I'm ranked #1 right now. Not bad for a mid-major.

Hey, aren't you the coach that left the mid-major because you said it wasn't possible to have continued success or win a national title at a mid-major?

Nice humble brag Robertoo. I don’t think I ever said that though... Actually I said just the opposite. I moved bc I decided to up my baseline before the world filled up. And I got you on the schedule next season with only 5 turds returning from my roster. But I’m not scared like some.... I’ll play u and take my chances at an upset!

Shocker that the most loud and obnoxious coach in HD has something loud and obnoxious to complain about.

From an outsider's perspective, this is such a "I'm a chump" comment.

1. He says you're just complaining about things not going your way..
2. You respond he schedules weak which doesn't appear to be true by looking at his Dayton team AND isn't his point at all...
3. He responds to you about how successful he's been with his Dayton team..
4. You make him seem like a lame for "humble bragging" when he only did it because of your initial response...
5. Then tell him you'll play him..
6. But then you immediately cover your butt with how your team sucks which is the biggest chump move. Let me guess - If he wins, you'll say "you beat my team of losers, congrats on achieving nothing". If he loses, you'll say "holy crap I beat you with these losers, you're a garbage coach"..
