NEW ! The Core-4 Progressive 1934 - FULL Topic

You have a flaw in your logic Prof. Many teams call up guys in mid season or in Setember and then going forward thse guys become quality player (from 35 to whenever). But they may only have a few games of service in 34 even back in the day mist rsters had a plutrity of plat yers that were not rostered fot 156 games. Some teams may not even be able to have a core 4 due to being bad teams. For example Cincy in 34.They could be a core 2 (Deringer and Lombardi) they could be better off drafting from the available pool they have a journeyman as a core player.I hope I explained clearly

No obligation to have four Core 4 if you don't have four you want from your own real life team jeff4noles. But if a player joined later in the season and was instrumental in a pennant drive for part of a season, then the following season if they played the whole year they can be Core 4. If not, they were not part of the core of the team anyway, and there are others just as good that a team can draft from the whole pool of players.

Thanks for clearing that up

But in any case, I looked at each team and I don't see any team that doesn't have four players you would want to keep and prevent from being available to others in the draft.

On the 1934 Reds, I would say that Lombardi, Bottomley, Hafey, Pool, Derringer and Frey would all be worth making Core 4.

Other owners might see it differently as you say.

one quick question
Lets use joe morgan
1965 houston doesnt list morgan as core 4. Someone else drafts him. The next year the team that drafted him lists him as keeper. can 1966 houston claim him as a core 4 and "steal" him? And if so, whats the point of keepers? is it the 5th best guy and below should be keepers? Or are keepers only from my team?

As I understand this question asked before is that CORE 4 selection each season comes first. Then we get to pick our keepers so in your example Morgan would be taken as a Core 4 player and not available anymore as a keeper.

If someone drafted Morgan for 65 that they would lose him in 66 when he becomes a core player so you need to be strategic in your selections not just pick best player

This is exactly right.

And eman7400's point about strategy as well. Thanks for clarifying it both of you.
