Cisco and Devine are my favs....but if it is a league where nobody is hitting any HR's there are likely better options.

Look at at his ".oav", set his pitch count at 5 to 15. He will need some help as it's not enough innings. But he is lights out, for what you can use him. I've been using Feliz alot myself lately, he's almost as good.

The 09 Penny would seem like he would give up alot of Hr's? Since the last update Adams hasn't worked well for me. Also someone mentioned Highball, since the last update he has got literally shelled in my attempts to use him.

Oscar Tuero had a pretty good closer season at $1.8M.

Little over $2M but I like Steve Karsay. I don't know what happened to Jack McDowell in the last update. He's been awful anymore.

I agree with you...Milacki's a great 1/2-closer...

2009 Andrew Bailey. Used him 3 times so far and he's been lights out everywhere.

Telly Savales story of introducing his 13 year boy to Minor League Pitching Coach Bob Milacki..bump
Amazing how we'd all forgotten about this for 11 years !!

Oooohdoggie is our historian, and has a fantastic ability to find great threads that have died

Bringing this thread back up, I don’t ever use the closer role, as I feel it limits my bullpen and prefer the skunk method of setting everyone as LH/RH specialist or setup A, and letting sparky just bring in the best available in each Situation.

But some of my favorite low IP RP’s are the 2020 Sherrif for under $1m and the 2016 Rich Hill partial (obviously). There’s a handful of low oav studs though between 800k-$1.3m that I’ll use in my OL’s

In this scenario what happens after Setup A? I guess I am reading this with a hypothetical in mind: after SP and Long Relief I have 4-5 relief pitchers, im setting 3-4 as specialists and then 1 as setup A. If there is not another setup or closer, sparky just plugs in the best available full stamina pitcher in my pen right?

So in my example, I ONLY use specialists OR setup A’s (mostly).

Here’s a current example in a champs league:
Pitcher Role % G W-L SV IP ERA OAV WHIP K/9 BB/9 Salary
Adam Kolarek '20 (L) Setup A 74 (90) 24 1-0 1 20.2 3.92 .256 1.40 4.79 3.48 2.36M
Caleb Baragar '20 (L) Setup A 74 (93) 26 1-2 0 25.2 4.56 .271 1.40 3.51 2.45 1.72M
J.B. Wendelken '19 (R) Setup A 87 (90) 16 3-1 0 12.0 6.00 .294 2.00 5.25 6.75 1.32M
Jim Neidlinger '90 (R) Setup A 100 24 3-0 3 26.1 5.47 .305 1.48 4.44 2.39 1.96M
Jose Fernandez '14 (R) Setup A 91 (94) 21 0-0 2 24.0 2.25 .228 1.08 9.75 1.88 1.88M
Kirk Rueter '95 (L) Setup A 73 (95) 28 1-0 1 23.1 3.47 .213 1.16 2.70 2.70 1.64M
Rich Hill '16 (L) Setup A 89 (92) 19 0-1 1 15.0 3.00 .250 1.13 4.20 1.80 1.49M
Ricky Nolasco '16 (R) Setup A 100 23 1-2 2 26.2 7.09 .295 1.58 4.05 3.04 1.85M
Ryan Sherriff '20 (L) Setup A 82 (84) 12 0-0 1 12.0 0.75 .175 0.92 0.00 3.00 974K

I am playing (as I normally do) in Hilltop, so some stats are higher than they’d normally be, but this team is 34-26 and in 1st place. If I were to do them as specialists, it’s look like this:
Pitcher Role % G W-L SV IP ERA OAV WHIP K/9 BB/9 Salary
Adam Kolarek '20 (L) LH Specialist 74 (90) 24 1-0 1 20.2 3.92 .256 1.40 4.79 3.48 2.36M
Caleb Baragar '20 (L) LH Specialist 74 (93) 26 1-2 0 25.2 4.56 .271 1.40 3.51 2.45 1.72M
Kirk Rueter '95 (L) LH Specialist 73 (95) 28 1-0 1 23.1 3.47 .213 1.16 2.70 2.70 1.64M
Rich Hill '16 (L) LH Specialist 89 (92) 19 0-1 1 15.0 3.00 .250 1.13 4.20 1.80 1.49M
Ryan Sherriff '20 (L) LH Specialist 82 (84) 12 0-0 1 12.0 0.75 .175 0.92 0.00 3.00 974K
J.B. Wendelken '19 (R) RH Specialist 87 (90) 16 3-1 0 12.0 6.00 .294 2.00 5.25 6.75 1.32M
Jim Neidlinger '90 (R) RH Specialist 100 24 3-0 3 26.1 5.47 .305 1.48 4.44 2.39 1.96M
Jose Fernandez '14 (R) RH Specialist 91 (94) 21 0-0 2 24.0 2.25 .228 1.08 9.75 1.88 1.88M
Ricky Nolasco '16 (R) RH Specialist 100 23 1-2 2 26.2 7.09 .295 1.58 4.05 3.04 1.85M

If you select some but not all as LH/RH specialists, I can guarantee they will be underutilized. Set all of them that way, or none.
