  • The late Dick Allen will be on the Hall of Fame’s Golden Days Era Committee ballot next month, after falling only one vote short of induction the last time he was on the ballot.
  • Jimmy Rollins (and Ryan Howard) will join Bobby Abreu and Scott Rolen on the Hall of Fame ballot this year. It will also be the 10th and final time on the ballot for controversial candidates Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, and Curt Schilling.

Bonds and Clemens have the numbers, but probably not the votes. They got 61% last time. Schilling is in the mix. Got 71% last year. I don't see him getting in ahead of Clemens. My 2 cents...

ARod and Big Papi are on the ballot. Rollins is borderline, as is Abreu and a guy like Jim Edmonds...Helton played in Coors. How much does that hurt his chances?

Allen and Kenny Boyer have a decent chance of getting in on the Veterans Committee vote. Gil Hodges and Maury Wills will get some votes.

Personally I think Rollins deserves serious consideration.. Love Howard but injury destroyed his career after 6 seasons.

I hate the whole steroid era, but Bonds was a HOFer anyway, I think I would have to vote for him. No to Clemens and Arid.

As a 15 year old Dick Allen was the greatest Philly since Roberts and Ashburn.Like schilling the ballplayer . Abreu had some good offensive numbers, but was afraid of outfield walls. In fact the teams string of 5 playoff appearances came right after they traded him away.

Dick Allen and Minnie Minoso are sentimental favorites for me.
Dick Allen was a charismatic player who made an impact each game. If not for many injuries he would already be in.

Abreu was always maligned for his defense just because he was graceful. He is better then a lot of players in and I would vote for him.
He also has some great underpriced sim seasons between 6-7 million.

Minnie Minoso belongs in the Hall of Fame, for his combined achievements in the Negro Leagues, Latin American leagues, and Major League Baseball.

And Dick Allen too, definitely.

I can see ARod being on the ballot hurting Clemens and Bonds's chances. I don't think ARod will pull a lot of votes. Enough to stay on the ballot, but not nearly enough to get in (I'll guess around 50%). And how can voters justify voting for some but not all 3 of those guys? I feel like ARod may be a fresh reminder to some voters of why they haven't voted for Clemens and Bonds.

Of course I may be very wrong, too.

I totally agree about minoso combined journeys.
He was among the early pioneers.

I think that is true and on the point.

The HOF tracking has already begun.
The final vote tally will be released on June 26, 2022.
So far after 311 votes last counting being in mid August these are the top talleys:

1. Schilling - 72.4
2. Bonds - 65.8
3. Clemens - 65.2

Rolen is about 57% and Abreu is about 10%.

What are you talking about? The BBWAA ballot's are mailed out around Thanksgiving.

These are approximately last year's vote totals.

My bad I saw a tracking link and it must have been votes from 2020.

I just read the Minoso section from Cooperstown Casebook by Jay Jaffe. He should've been in the HOF decades ago!

This is going to be one of the most fascinating HOF elections ever. It's also Sosa's final year on the ballot.

Just when the Hall thinks they're getting rid of problems (Clemens & Bonds) a new one gets added (A-rod).

I expect Schilling's total to drop because several writers wanted to rescind their votes after his tweets in support of the insurrection on January 6th.

Omar Vizquel's vote total will drop significantly after the latest report of his debauchery, which is fine with me. He would be one of the worst HOF selections ever!

David Ortiz might get the Roberto Alomar treatment from voters where he gets strong support on his first ballot, but not enough to get elected, then gets a huge jump in year two, simply for appearing on the Mitchell report.

Very curious to see what kind of support Teixeira, Rollins, Prince Fielder, Joe Nathan, and Jonathan Papelbon get in their first year.

With a very crowded ballot, will Rolen, Wagner, and Helton continue to climb towards enshrinement?
