My bad I saw a tracking link and it must have been votes from 2020.

This is going to be one of the most fascinating HOF elections ever. It's also Sosa's final year on the ballot.

Just when the Hall thinks they're getting rid of problems (Clemens & Bonds) a new one gets added (A-rod).

I expect Schilling's total to drop because several writers wanted to rescind their votes after his tweets in support of the insurrection on January 6th.

Omar Vizquel's vote total will drop significantly after the latest report of his debauchery, which is fine with me. He would be one of the worst HOF selections ever!

David Ortiz might get the Roberto Alomar treatment from voters where he gets strong support on his first ballot, but not enough to get elected, then gets a huge jump in year two, simply for appearing on the Mitchell report.

Very curious to see what kind of support Teixeira, Rollins, Prince Fielder, Joe Nathan, and Jonathan Papelbon get in their first year.

With a very crowded ballot, will Rolen, Wagner, and Helton continue to climb towards enshrinement?
I forgot about those Schilling statements. Not likely to help him add votes. Could subtract some and he needed already every vote he could get.

I think Jimmy Rollins will get more votes then expected.

Fair or not, I think Ortiz will get in eventually, quite possibly on first ballot. He's immensely popular with the fans and the press, and he has the Commissioner lobbying for him. He's not actually listed in the Mitchell Report (which is in itself sketchy given Mitchell's connection to the BoSox and the report that Ortiz allegedly tested positive in the "anonymous" testing in 2003).

Rolen should be in. Rollins is a NO. No way Abreu deserves it if Edmonds is not in.
Big Poppie will make it eventually.
Unclear on Wagner...he was really good but lots of great RP in that era.

Rolen, Helton, and Andruw Jones, all picking +40 votes. They're all trending toward a call from the Hall, especially Rolen. I think Rolen and Helton should be in; Jones is pretty borderline, which in my mind means no.

I agree Rollins deserves serious consideration. He may have a tough row to hoe, however. Per Baseball-Reference, here's how he compares to other HOF SS::
[Rollins] Shortstop (32nd):
47.6 career WAR | 32.6 7yr-peak WAR | 40.1 JAWS | 3.4 WAR/162
Average HOF SS (out of 23):
67.8 career WAR | 43.2 7yr-peak WAR | 55.5 JAWS | 4.9 WAR/162

Matt Holliday should've been the 2007 NL MVP...

On Sunday the Golden Days Committee votes.

There are 16 voters.
A player needs 12 votes to get in.
Dick Allen has a great chance - last time he got 11 votes. Mike Schmidt will be pushing and he one of the 16.
Im rooting for Allen and Minnie Minoso.
Billy Pierce is an interesting choice.
Gil Hodges is back.

Every year, there’s a name that gets me livid who doesn’t get enough votes.

In the past it was Raines, EM, Bagwell, and Larry Walker (I posted about him extensively here).

This year it’s Scott Rolen. Does 7 Gold Gloves and a 122 OPS+ mean nothing nowadays?!?

He was the quintessential slick-fielding, slugging, unicorn 3B that everybody talks about.

3B unfairly gets tied in with 1B and COF in terms of expected offensive production, and he lived up to the billing, in the steroid era, albeit without too many 30 HR seasons, but to me, he’s the 90s/00s Ron Santo, and he needs to be in asap!

Im sorry but Tony Oliva over Dick Allen?

HOF results today. Here are the berths:

1. Gil Hodges
2. Buck O’ Neil
3. Tony Oliva
4. Bud Fowler
5. Jim Kaat ?
6. Minnie Minoso
12/5/2021 7:53 PM
Glad to see Minoso and Hodges
I agree Allen should have got in over Oliva
On Kaat guess Tommy John is a surefire HOF now careers so similar plus John has a surgery named after him.

Dick Allen gets screwed again. Kaat gets in mainly because he played for 25 years.

”one of the most feared sluggers in the game.

From 1964 to 1974, he averaged 29 homers and 89 RBIs while hitting .299 with a .940 OPS. Only Aaron's .941 OPS was better in the majors over that span. Allen slugged .554 from 1964 to 1974, second only to Aaron's .561. Only Billy Williams (702), another Hall of Famer, and Aaron (689) had more extra-base hits than Allen's 670 in that 11-year run.

Allen's numbers are also impressive when viewed through the prism of modern advanced metrics. From 1964 through 1974, he led the majors in OPS+ (165) and wRC+ (163). Every other player in the Top 10 of wRC+ is in the Hall of Fame. Every other player in the Top 9 of OPS+ is in the Hall.”
