Not all conservatives obviously, but come the topic of immigration, when there's zero reasonable argument for why immigration is bad and no one seems to have a problem with white migrants coming in, yeah, I'll call a spade a spade.

The (seemingly) largest problem we have on the globe (save the Global status itself) is human migration. Folks in search of a better life fleeing their homeland for something they perceive to be a better chance to LIVE comfortably. AND, quite obviously the ENVIRONMENT is pushing this problem along and making it much worse for humans in certain locales to survive. Thus, they migrate.

Now, IF you want to Tangy, you can deny the population issue. I can't. Overcrowding is ONE of the reasons people migrate. They can't ALL come here. In fact, we don't have room for more than a pittance % of them. AND, not all immigrants are equal. AND I ain't talking skin tone!!

LEGAL IMMIGRATION should be effectively managed for the overall GOOD of our Country. NO OTHER criteria matters.
Work visas, study visas, etc, along with visitation (tourists!!) should be easy, BUT the borders NEED sealed to STOP any illegal entrance by anyone.
WE MUST KNOW WHO is in our Country and when they're required to leave/go home!

It isn't capitulation to the opponent..............it's about being right on a MAJOR ISSUE of importance with the voters!!
I can NEVER affiliate with a political Party that allows the likes of Trump, Gaetz, Gosar, Mccarthy, etc.
BUT, I also, can never affiliate with a PARTY too stupid to reject the fringe elements within their tribe for solid common sense understanding of where the MAJORITY of the voters ARE on an issue of such importance.

The Repugnants are all wrong (Constitutionally) on the Abortion issue, BUT the Dems are on the wrong side of the ILLEGAL immigration debate.
Neither Party seems to have ANY competent leaders anymore!!

Oh, and BTW. I ain't talking about no STUPID wall/physical barrier. THAT's a 2nd century idea. STUPID in today's world.
Unworkable, damaging to the environment and fauna of the area. The WALL was NOTHING more than a bone hurled at the hungry right to appease their idiocy!!

I'm talking technology. Electronic eyes and ears.
A LOT cheaper than a dumb, ugly, deteriorating wall.
That portions of will fail EVERY time we get a good rain in the desert!

This is true. Climate change does contribute to increased migration, but migration doesn't lead to climate change.

They can't ALL come here. In fact, we don't have room for more than a pittance % of them.

If the entire world came here, we could probably fit all of them, but it would cause some overcrowding. Fortunately, we don't have to worry about that. The US isn't that densely packed, and not even close to being overpopulated. In fact, we have one of the lowest population densities in the entire world. We could bring in 2 billion more people and still have a lower population density than the UK!

LEGAL IMMIGRATION should be effectively managed for the overall GOOD of our Country. NO OTHER criteria matters.

I disagree, I prioritize the betterment of humanity and immigration can be effectively utilized to save lives. But guess what? It's a win-win either way. Because all kinds of legal immigration is good for the country, both high and low-skill. Refugees and asylum seekers are good for the economy.

It isn't capitulation to the opponent..............it's about being right on a MAJOR ISSUE of importance with the voters!!

Every single reason you've given me for why we should reject legal immigration is just objectively wrong.

The Repugnants are all wrong (Constitutionally) on the Abortion issue, BUT the Dems are on the wrong side of the ILLEGAL immigration debate.

I don't see dems advocating for illegal immigration! You want people to come here legally, and you do that by making legal immigration more easy.

Look Tangy. Most would consider me fairly left of center of social issues.
And, on this one I just flatly disagree with your LEGAL immigration concept.

I want it severely limited for PERMANENT immigration.
And I disagree with your (over) population assertions.

We don't have room for everybody, far from it.
And in some portions of the Country (admittedly NOT in Kansas) over crowding exists already.

I live in a rural environment and I'd argue there's too many folks HERE!
Not enough resources for what IS (already).
Allowing more to become permanent citizens is NOT in our (present citizens) best interest.
Period. Full stop.

And the left NEEDS my vote.Time to rethink IMO.

Your only reason for not liking it seems to be overcrowding. How is it possible that over a hundred countries are more densely populated than we are if we're already being overcrowded? Like I said, to be equal to the UK population density-wise, we would have to have 2 billion more people immigrate here.

How many would take up residence in the low populated regions like Montana or Idaho?

These types of places are what keeps our population density numbers low, relatively speaking.

For comparison, if we put every person in the world in Texas, Texas would still have a population density less than that of NYC.

Likewise, the UK's population density is somewhat misleading because they're such a small island. The UK is slightly smaller than the state of Oregon, and has only one city with over 1M population.

Why should we have any "desire" to equal the UK in density of population??
It's NOT the same here as in the UK and I doubt most of us wanna be LIKE the UK.

What if we had a program to incentivize immigrants to live in low populated areas?

Overcrowding is not a problem. We have so much space in America that we could take in a billion+ and still be comfortable.

My point is simply that we have PLENTY of space for new people. We're not out of room. We're one of the lowest in the entire world in population density.

And we OUGHT to stay that way!!

Can you imagine what overcrowding what do to our factionalized tribalized people??
We can't even get along now. Try putting folks in crowded situations and see what you get.

Is there any empirical evidence for the idea that countries with higher population densities tend to be more fractionalized and divided?
11/15/2021 2:16 PM
I wasn't claiming any. WE are already divided and at each other's throats, common sense tells me that putting in crowded conditions is just gonna cause more conflict and division. I know I don't want or need more humans in my area. A few more bobcats for all these daggone feral cats maybe, but PLEASE no more humans. Ain't got no water for 'em anyways. It's all spoken for.
