Kyle Rittenhouse Trial Topic

Strictly from a legal perspective, I'm okay with the verdict. Not good with it. But okay. The self-defense claim had evidence supporting it. The provocation/escalation negation of the defense had evidence supporting it. It was a close case that required the weighing of facts.

I think the prosecutors should've included a negligent homicide and/or reckless endangerment counts to give the jury somewhere else to land. It may, or may not, have mattered, but the precedent of a walk here is not good.

I'm sure this will shock no one, but the usual Proud Boys /QAnon telegram channels are reacting like their team just won the Super Bowl right now. Already seeing comments about this setting a "precedent for rioters" and how they will be dealt with in the future.

Congressman Madison Cawthorn just offered Kyle Rittenhouse an internship. Congressman Matt Gaetz did the same. They are sending a message to America that violence is not only acceptable, it's a resume booster for politics.

I don’t feel the need to discuss this any further after the comment that preceded yours but I will say if it was overwhelming evidence to the jury it wouldn’t have taken four days.

4 days wondering if they should render the right verdict or the safe verdict.

Wasn't allowing "protesters" to burn and loot and attack policemen who were told to stand down already sending a message of "violence is acceptable"?

Wasn't that message also sent in Seattle (CHAZ where they allowed a portion of the city to be taken over? At least 6 shootings and 1 rape that we know of)?

I think those are much worse messages to be sending out. Kyle was found not guilty because of overwhelming evidence that supported his plea.

A much much worse message would've been "Yeah, he wasn't guilty, but we are going to convict him anyway so our town doesn't burn again"
What if the white jury came out and convicted him because they felt he provoked it and felt he shot to kill when all he had to do was injure and he went too far?

what would you say then?

Btw - only a few places had serious vandalism issues and the people doing it most of the time were not the protesters but local yutes looking for trouble and some right wing imposters.

I don’t get this thirst for blood from the pro life crowd.
After seeing video my mind has changed on this case.

There will be civil lawsuits with a different standard of care coming just like in the OJ case.

The saga is not over.

In your opinion, what was the most compelling evidence that suggested Kyle may be found guilty?

3 more shots after he shot a guy in the pelvis ( he was probably aiming for the balls but missed ). Right there the jury if they chose could have ruled some type of unlawful homicide.

I think they rendered the safe verdict instead of the right verdict,

Please elaborate. In what way was a not guilty verdict "safe"?
