after three rounds I have 3 guys who do some useful things and still tons of freedom in terms of $$$ and roles/needs which feels pretty pretty good

unlike last season when I abandoned everything I had planned on the 3/4 turn and took Wade/Oladipo and doomed myself

but here comes the next pick so I am not out of the woods yet

talk amongst yourselves, post your dreams and aspirations for the future, lament the errors of your ways, bare your souls, pray jackedjamie doesn't draft you into one of his patented divisions of death

I DON’T UNDERSTAND THE WAY HE WRITES, USING NO CAPITAL LETTERS AND NO PUNCTUATION AT THE END OF SENTENCES.

a couple of Malones, a Manu and a Kyle seems pretty stout

I (knowingly) took Russell too early, though I don't think it was super early based on his new defensive ratings. Had the fun idea from the start of a Rodman/Russell/Love frontcourt, because if there's anywhere Love fits perfectly it's with those two guys to cover the defensive deficiencies. Between the three of them I'm getting 126% CRB; add in Butler and that number rises to almost 148% (though Butler only plays about half the minutes; and my last starter will probably be pretty pathetic rebounding.)

I was worried about salary after committing so much money to big-minute, low-usage guys, but think I'm going to be able to make it work. EFG% will be middling at best, but hopefully defense and boards make up for it.

The easier/more boring thing to do would have been to pair Rodman with Towns, which would have been a great start.

That looks like a fun build.

I keep wanting to get back to a worm build - last time I did I used the big money 91-92 season - not sure I would do that again - when I do open leagues I usually use the 2400 minute 15-35 crb 90 d version (93?)

here's my first (maybe not starting) five:

Holy usage Batman. Good D though.

Yeah I would assume the plan is to platoon Giannis/Embiid/George at the 3 and 5, then to cover the remaining minutes at the 5 with Adebayo or an undrafted player.

Cope's team is basically the opposite of mine. He has a ton of money and picks invested in low-minute, high-usage studs, while I have a lot of money invested in high-minute, low-usage studs.

definitely some handcuffing there, but I still have 17.5m to fill in the grit and mortar guys

Does anyone else feel like the draft matters a lot less than it used to? There are so many valuable seasons and with the cap, there always seem to be good guys available. Not sure if that's just me, or I'm blind to something given my lack of success.
12/3/2021 10:15 AM
That is very true. You can get away with drafting a lot less minutes.

A lot more about the final team building.

I agree. I think that the new players are a huge reason, but I think Savage has shifted people's minds on how to build the final teams.
