Last season the average IP per team was 1440.

Another thing to look at would be the number of pitches. On average, teams threw 144 pitches per game (high of 158, low of 136)

1440 IP / 162 games = 8.89 IP/G
144 pitches/G / 8.89 IP/G = 16.2 pitches/inning
