1000% Agreed. I've been playing Hoops Dynasty for many, many years but this issue almost led to me dropping WIS completely.

I had this exact situation happen with my Ohio State team in Tark before this current season (which made for the second time I'd lost a team I loved to this issue, went from two worlds to just the one after that) and were it not for upsetcity reaching out to me on Discord about an opening in the MEAC, I was planning on just taking some time away from the game.

Granted it wasn't 100 season for me but it was my dream job and part of the reason I stopped playing for a number of years

It was my first experience with the new coach penalty. Don't like it but I feel I made the best of it....

Before I messed up I was in 2 late battles for 4 star recruits. My best guess both those battles 50/50. The new coach penalty took me right out of those battles. I had to adjust and I end up with 2 recruits. 1 is a 3 star recruit who will likely be a future backup, the other a 1 season left transfer player that I am just kicking the can to next year.

I can't complain since I got a 5 star recruit in the first phase, and odds say I win one 4 star recruit and lose the other. 1 of those 4 star recruits I believe will be a stud while these 2 guys I got are deep bench guys.

The trickle down affect of them handling it the way they did was you had to go looking for new recruits. This in turn cost another team a recruit. In this case its the 3 star recruit that you say will be a future backup while that recruit would have helped either of the teams that had been recruiting him previously.

Season 38? That's like over 10 years ago. Hard to believe they have not addressed the problem in 10 years.

I still say there is 3 parties effected and thats WIS, the person who had the team and the person who gets the team.

1-The person who gets the team is only effected if he actually gets awarded the team. He is almost surely not going to be effected by a team he never gets.

2-The person who lost the team. Has to be a decent percentage of people who just quit the game rather than move to another team.

3-WIS- It never helps your bottom line to turn away business.

There are multiple easy fixes, lot of people have good suggestions. I don't understand why in 10 plus years they don't make it so it's more efficient to renew your team.

If I recall, at that time they did nothing but say just re apply. Also I was friends with the owner(who I actually currently work for now) and didn't want "special" privilege's bullshit attached it.

as much as i am all for giving the old coach their job back, having a bit of a penalty there waiting for them sounds pretty reasonable to me. so i had a great deal of compassion for your initial situation but very little for this part, keeping in mind the good chances another coach was meaningfully inconvenienced to accommodate you / whoever forgot to renew.

HD has changed the renewal stuff significantly since that 15 year ago time this happened that someone was mentioning (which, btw, hilarious). i don't remember how it changed or if it really got better or worse, but they did do a bunch of stuff to try to make it better, at some point?

It's been the same system for a buddy of mine that has played since 2006. Regardless, technology in this space has drastically improved from 15 years ago. It's just not a focus for them which doesn't make any sense to me.

I feel like its pretty easy to click on manage renewals and click renew.

ask him how he stood up from a team in the old system? maybe that will remind him of some of the differences. it used to be impossible to leave a team while you had seasons left on your account, without taking a new job i mean, unless you ticketed CS directly.

the manage renewals screens and stuff, none of that existed.

One small change they could make to cut down on this: They need to send out emails to your in-game inbox that are clearer than the weird messages you get from your assistant coach about "renewing your coaching license" and "we need come to terms on a new contract, or else we'll have to find a replacement". It's not a contract, and it's not a coaching license. And then they have to stop burying them inside emails with other topics (i.e. in the email you get before the CT championship game).

Just be straight up with the reminders and it'll cut down on people forgetting to renew, guaranteed.

Should be all caps subject line: "YOU ARE NOT RENEWED FOR NEXT SEASON" and the body of the email should be straight to point: CLICK HERE TO RENEW OR YOU WILL LOSE THIS TEAM.

Also, for all the people saying "it's not that hard to renew" -- nobody is arguing that it is extremely difficult, we're all just saying that the system could be way more intuitive. Why not make it easier?

I wasn't here back then so I'll defer to you, Gil. He didn't mention anything other than the fact that you've always had to buy seasons, and then apply those seasons to a team. I didn't ask about intentionally leaving teams as we were talking about people losing teams by accident.

"Note: if you don't have any seasons available in your pool, the auto renew will fail and you'll lose your team."

That just seems easily addressable to me.
