Can anyone top losing #88 likely staying? Topic

Anyone have a worse example since the board expanded to 125?

Oh yes. I've lost 126 (Blansett on Missouri in Crum, after winning a title. I kept #2 that season!) and 119 (Thomas Wright on Louisville in Smith after a title). And I saw another coach lost 114 in a current world. Maybe it was texashick? It might be still active to see. I'll look real fast.

Regardless...... every number listed here is a bad bad break

edit..... it was texashick in Crum. Jr 114 on draft board currently

I also lost #83 Charles Mills on Portland in Rupp last season as a Soph (which was documented and discussed in discord). What's ridiculous in all these cases, including yours, is all these players are leaving to be drafted #50th, #58th, #59th...... like that should ever happen on a somewhat regular basis.

And I don't even have a ton of D1 experience. Less than 50 seasons combined I'd guess. And not a ton of EEs overall. I could understand this more if I was a D1 lifer with hundreds of seasons played. But that's not the case.

My player was a sophomore in Phelan. I have also lost likely staying sophomores two straight seasons in Tark. Just a killer for next season. Really wish they would go back to one recruiting session after players have declared.

Yup caught a stream of bad luck in Crum. Also lost a recruit with 1675 APs in him and the winner (I think) had around a 3rd of that.

The 114 was the last player drafted and the next highest non-senior was 86. Sometimes you get unlucky, it’s part of the game.

Naismith just had #s 93, 105, and 106 leave. Ridiculous!

While losing bottom board EEs definitely sucks, I wanted to add this that it’s not unrealistic from a realism standpoint. UTEP lost a sophomore SF who declared for the draft, hoping to be 55-60 pick but ended up going undrafted. I remember being outraged when this happened.

I am in the same conference with N. Illinois, which lost #93 an on the fence junior in Naismith. That is a killer for a lower baseline prestige team as the prestige boost for a late second round pick is miniscule.

I realize it's not outrageous. It just seems to happen at too high of a rate.

That looks like a list of Srs that just ran out of college eligibility. Not highly touted Sophs that left early to be Mr irrelevant

McClung left after his jr season.
Weems left after soph season.
Smith gave up another year of eligibility to enter the draft (injuries/COVID related).
Champagnie left after his soph season.

How far down the list are we going here?

And none drafted? So basically it's equal to me turning pro this year as well. #23,587 on the board TopDogg

Sure, if it’s upsetting to your coach that you’ve left their team to do that, then you’ve made an apt comparison.

Leron Black, Jereme Richmond, Giorgi Bezhanishvili from an Illinois standpoint alone.
