Players wanting minutes Topic

I had two players complain about minutes. I am brand new at this. I don’t want either to get minutes really. They’re fine, but I have 5 sophomore point guards (thanks AI). So these are the two worst. Will they quit? If they do, will that hurt my loyalty, etc? Will I have money for two additional scholarships if they quit?

If you don’t up their minutes, they’ll complain a second time. If you get two complaints there’s a pretty good chance they’re gone yeah.

The knock on your coach rep is so tiny that if you really don’t want the players then it’s worth it to let ‘em walk imo.

what two are the complainers just out of curiosity?

If you looked at my team- it’s Weismiller (who has offensive talent but not much else) and Martens.

I know my team is awful. Looking forward to recruit and try to start changing this thing.

Yeah always fun taking over a Sim team! And I forgot to answer your last question: Yes, you’ll get additional scholarships if they leave.

You can also cut them after the season and get more scouting and scholarship money without taking a reputation hit since they weren't your recruits.

I haven’t seen any non-first-year players leave since 3.0, on my team or any others. Are there examples of folks losing players for reasons other than broken promises since 3.0 was introduced 5 years ago? I’ve tried to get lots of players to quit, with no success.

Lol. Weismiller has a 1 defense. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before.

Glad to have you, Mr. Chief Justice! Always good to have new players join. If you need help, don’t ask me. I still suck at this game, but there are a lot active people on here that are really good and are more than willing to help. Don’t be afraid to shoot vets a sitemail.

And like someone else mentioned, you can cut guys that you didn’t recruit after the season and get recruiting resources for them. Just remember that you can’t have more than 6 guys in a class. You can sign more than 6 guys, but some will have to be JuCo’s or transfers.

Thank you for answering another question I had about cutting players who weren't my recruits. I want to cut several but wasn't sure if that would do too much damage to my prestige. I don't want it to. I want to get rid of those two and probably dig out two more depending on who all I get to sign to get some of my guys in.

1. Don’t worry about anyone other than freshman (you offered start and minutes) quitting. Only broken recruiting promises leave.

2. All the sim recruited players are bad, don’t worry about them.

3. If you rescind their scholarship you get resources.

I was surprised when I started that the first thing I did was not recruit. I feel like this is really Year 0. I don't have any of my own players.

Also, I picked a team that went 2-25 last year so that I knew that any success they have in any future year is due to what I've done so I can figure out what works. Also, I can't make them any worse. :)

Yep, agreed it is a little unfortunate, but the good news is you get more of a hang of the game before you recruit, so you at least can know what you are looking for.

Yep, it's definitely more fulfilling to rebuild a bad team than to cherry-pick a perennial winner.

Not really sure why you're not playing Martens. He's not great, but he'd be a serviceable backup PG. Plus he's got the most ATH of anyone on your team, which can be a key core.

Weismiller is bad. I wouldn't worry about him complaining. If he doesn't leave in the off season I'd cut him.

I'm not a fan of Derrick's ATH, DEF, and STAM. Those three together are lethal combo to be lacking in, especially in man to man defense. The rest of his cores aren't bad, so maybe you can overlook those spots for the others.

To be a good program year in and year out, IMO you need ATH, DEF, and STAM. Focus in on those and look for high potentials in other key areas and you should be able to build a successful program.

I really wouldn't worry about your coaching reputation. It seems to be mostly eye candy at this point. I cut my own players all the time (supposed to be a big no-no), but my reputation never really falls below an A+.
