Free agent in NL Central - 1920 George Sisler

Just woke up after getting home at 430 am CDT. Will pick within the next hour.

This pick reminds me of my 1940's later-round selections in round 4, where I took 1940 & 1945 and added free agent SPs that I have never used before just because they were ranked the highest (Derringer and Potter). Both the starting pitchers sucked (each was worst SP on team) and as a result, so did both teams. Not going to make that mistake again. The team still may suck, but at last my free agent is going to crush it.

1941-50 Tigers / Indians (closing the AL Central)

Free agent: 1941 Ted Williams

Schwarze, I understand your logic. But, my team has solid hitting and is really desperate for pitching, so:

AL Central Free Agent:

1945 Roger Wolff - Washington Senators

Well, I wanted to split my teams as far as leagues go, and I really liked options in both of the available divisions. At the end of the day, I couldn't pass up the ridiculous pitching of these Cubs and just hope we can score a few runs and not boot too many grounders.

N. L. EAST: 1901-1910
Orphans-Cubs / Reds

1951-1960 Yankees/Phillies

For my AL Central free agent, sure it would have been nice to upgrade one of the weaker middle infielders ... but in the end it just came down to deciding which Splinter to stick in there with Musial.

1942 Ted Williams, Red Sox

I strongly considered picking the Red Sox/Giants combo instead of the Tigers/Indians (then adding Newhouser as my free agent) just to prevent everybody else from adding Ted Williams as their free agent. But the pitching was still bad, and I didn't want to leave '48 Boudreau available.

I definitely would have taken Boudreau if available. SS is my weakest offensive position. I just couldn't see taking a guy like Vern Stephens to upgrade there over a monster Williams season, but there are a lot of ways to play this. I was happy enough with my pitching and would have taken a bat somewhere, I'm sure.

NL East 1901-1910 Chicago White Sox/Boston Americans/Red Sox

Also, I'll start the Free Agent draft with

1908 Honus Wagner, Pirates

I didn't expect to have him on the table in the NL East, but I'll happily take one of him too:

1905 Honus Wagner, Pirates

Closing out the AL West with the 1951-1960 Boston Red Sox/Chicago White Sox

Free Agent - 1953 Warren Spahn - Braves

N.L. East - Free Agent Pick - 1902 Ed Delahanty (Washington Senators)
