I would like to amend this a little.
The competition at the other end is just as small, but the players getting drafted are only usable for a few years.
BullMoose's point about better(longer) players in the early years (with less competition) is very valid.

Dick Groat ss 1957.....early for second ss but Concepcion has short career for me. Should have taken Groat instead of Concepcion. So, Owners with a 73 opening and a need at ss. We could do a sign and trade deal after season starts..
