I knew this was inevitable from the moment Texas and Oklahoma left for the SEC, but **** man. This sucks. I’m a Big Ten guy through and through but it won’t be the same. **** superconferences, it’s all for the money and it’s bad for the sport.

Yeah, this **** is dumb. I miss the mid 2000's Big East.

Count me in as someone who hates this as well. So “conferences” are growing but they want to do away with divisions? You’re going to have teams battling for conference championships that don’t play each other unless they have flexible schedules like a position week or something similar. I don’t see how this improves UCLA and USC chances at making the football playoffs either. They haven’t been talented enough to compete and I don’t think this is going to make recruiting better. Plus the Riley hire at SC seemed to fix their recruiting issues.

Is Bill Walton coming along?
Conference of Champions.

Yea it might be good financially for the the BIG20 and the S20EC but the rest of the country just became irrelevant

Yep, it sucks and makes no sense from the sport perspective. All about money. I guess it's time for the Big 12(?), Pac 12(?), and ACC to come together and create their own superconference (or I guess semi-superconference).

This, 100%. Money is killing college football.

Yep agreed.

It's all about money, everyone knows that. But can we stop pretending that academics matter at all for these players. What a joke

It looks like eventually college football is going to break away from the NCAA and evolve into minor league football.

look at the footprint

the SEC is a quarter of the country

the BIGX is half now and has the three biggest populations or media markets in the country. NY, CHI, LA

this is the civil war all over again

The South Done Did It Again

too big for their britches. they started it. now they gonna pay

interesting to see where the likes of Notre Dame, Clemson and North Carolina end up

is 20 schools the target?

Herbstreit thinks there will eventually be three divisions/conferences

If you have Nebraska and Rutgers in the same conference you might as well add USC and UCLA. I am ok with that. West Virginia in the Big 12 was weird too when it happened. I think it falls in line with coaches and players moving freely from school to school, now the schools can move from conference to conference. Tradition means very little anymore. Maybe that's the NEW tradition... no tradition. I still get freaked out when the Cubs play the Red Sox. Or the Seahawks in the NFC?

Rutgers is - BY FAR - the luckiest school in the history of Earth. How can a program that has won ONE NCCA tourney game in basketball EVER and a football program that hasn't won a bowl game since 2014 get to be in one of these mega conferences. They should thank their lucky stars they play near NYC because they belong in the A10 or something.

And yeah Northwestern sucks too but they're at least a founding member.

Pac 12 fan. Spent my whole life hating the Big 10. THIS SUCKS!
7/1/2022 3:25 PM
Can't disagree with anything said here.

If 20 teams are the target, how many super conferences ultimately survive? Three?

Big whatever
SEC
ACC

Are we looking at the death of the PAC whatever and Little 12 and only three super conferences at the top with everyone else falling down to American Athletic level?

Or is the answer two super conferences and the ACC falls apart as well...
