Here is a question or two for anyone here:
- What do you think Jesus meant, with his last words? Those words were "It is finished" (Tetelestai)
- What what do you think the real end result was, of his ministry here on Earth?
Hey Dumbo - there are 4 gospels and the last words differ from gospel to gospel.
How can that be about something as important as that.
Question 2 - a cult began and after the cult was appropriated by the Romans it expanded very often by force.
All religions start as a cult. If not for the laws of kosher the Romans might have chosen Judaism instead.
Mormons and John Smith - an obvious cult but has millions upon millions of followers.
Islam started as a cult that expanded.
Every religion starts as a cult.
There has never been a religion that was so irresistible that everyone would accept it.
1. The gospel writer tried to say his purpose on earth was done. That does not mean I believe those were his last words. I have heard that his last words were ouch.
2. The result of his following and preaching was a small cult if followers that expanded by the Romans.
And because the Romans took it over Christianity caused countless millions of death and suffering.
It was the greatest tragedy in the world until the black plague.
And during Hitler’s nazis who claimed a version of christianity the Catholic Church was very silent.
In the united states christians used the bible to rationalize the institution of slavery and creating second hand citizens of women.
Also the KKK were christians and rationalized what they did based on bible passages.
Today the world continues to ignore climate change to a large degree because of fundamental christians who think that the world is 5800 years old and the dinosaur bones are joke by God.
Long story short I believe that Christianity has done far more harm then good. Existential harm.
