Regarding, SOS, I think just looking at the avg amount of wins in it doesn't tell the whole story. It doesn't look at the actual teams in it, and most importantly, one of the main reasons Robusk's divisions have a high win total is because of his success in savage - but he doesn't have to play himself.

This is 100% true. No one thing is going to be able to fully predict the SOS, but this has been a better predictor in the past than qualitative assessments.

Even if you remove the owner wins from the division, it is pretty brutal (I do track this, I just quit posting it this way because people whined about it). Without my own wins the divisions still stack up as the 4th highest total, and that metric is usually owners with bad track records at the top.

I'd be interested in seeing this.

My strength of schedule: 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, and 20th hardest divisions.

Me.
How about:

2
3
7
8

I'll trade you.
how are we in two of the hardest three divisions together? Fate is so cruel.
This is going to sound like a smart *** comment but is isn’t…

isn’t that how math works? The fact that you are in two divisions together by definition makes them hard divisions.

When you put it that way, that makes perfect sense.

Guess I can't complain on that. I will say that the real story can be where people are putting their best and worst teams. I have what I think is kind of a worst team, but my team may be more balanced overall. My worst team is in W4 with ash, rob and josh. But sounds like Rob put his worst there so you kind of just don't know.

I wonder if we looked back at SoS vs. results how much it predicts outcomes.

and by the way in case I forget to say this, GIANT thanks to DH for running this and to Rob for all he does with the history and tracking. I owe my favorite league(s) to you guys!

I'm a bit nervous about my teams, given what seems like a tough division draw. The last two seasons I did pretty well with players who were high volume in useful stats and great D, but maybe not the most efficient. Like Timmy, Dr J, the Glove, so much Mookie. I *believe* I had the best regular season D last year or thereabouts, at least by allowed EFG.

Getting Shaq at #8 was basically the dream for me, and the teams I built around him are drastically improved in shooting (both EFG and distribution) and TOs, I expect to be around top 5 in both. As stated, Lillard was an ideal pairing and I'm not mad about Ibaka or JAllen either, or anyone else especially either, not even Conley. I also think my 4th and 5th best teams fall off less compared to previous years.

In the process though I lost a lot of assists - fine - but also defense, which is more concerning, though still league average or so I think. Oh and steals. I worry those "supporting" stats were what has been propping up consistently meh rebounding (121.7% cREB this season on avg), though my squads this season aren't really any worse at it than my last two entries (123.4% and 116.7%). I feel like one way or another I'm about to get some juicy data points regarding what does and doesn't play in Savage.

All that said, I'm holding out hope that things work out, and if they do I'll feel pretty darn vindicated about my preferred team building methods.

3s and dunks baby.

Just curious: How many people are doing the all the eggs in 2 or 3 baskets strategy vs gunning for playoffs in all 5? I am gunning for playoffs in all 5 and hoping to win the whole thing in one of them.

I'm hoping to have five playoff worthy teams. I have one team that definitely *should* be the best one but after that I could see them finishing in any order.

Did not stack teams - used the pieces that fit together the best. First 2 times I played savage, I did stack, and had mixed results - but last season, I used the only way I could to hit assist and usage minimums. I do think a few teams are stronger than others though, but most of my players have quite consistent seasons.

I mostly end up stacking the best seasons on 3 or so teams, but also make sure construction on the other two works and that they're at least viable candidates to make the playoffs.

that's basically what I did the last 2 times I played & finished 2nd & 4th, so it's definitely a good strategy!

I'll actually slightly amend my previous statement on further review. I have one team that I think is definitely the best; one that is very likely 2nd best; and the other three could finish in any order.
