I quit reading after the hate for Terry Porter..... Mainly bc I need to get back to work, but Porter is a great fit on almost every team
Right? I don't get the hate. Terry Porter is a great PG for the 52. I personally think Nash and Porter could be about equal in value and Porter is definitely better than Deron in my humble opinion

Way too many new unique PGs in the last 5 NBA seasons. He is fine in the ODL, but not worth it here

On another note, the amount of talent still available is insane. There are a few players that has me utterly shocked they are still available at this stage. A PG, a couple of SFs, and a couple Cs especially stick out just off the top of my head.

For me, T Porter's 10.7 cReb is difficult to overcome in the 52. I feel like you can't afford to punt on cReb at any position (especially someone playing 33 mins/game) and expect to be too successful in this league. Playing the other two Porters at SG and Garnett at SF helps with the cReb though.

Also, his TO% (14.7) is higher than either of Harden's two best seasons (14.2, 14.5).

To be honest, I wanted Tyrese Haliburton.

My plan isn’t to be too successful in this league. If I am too successful I might accidentally win the league and be forced to write evals. My plan is to sneak into the playoffs and be eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. $1.00.

Porter is fine but I bet that there will be a few 30ish perimter, 16-20% usage, okay D dudes who shoot 55%+ efg left even after I draft - I can think of two off the top of my head

You have just described my entire Whatifsports career

As for Terry Porter vs. Deron Williams, Porter has better eFG%, more steals, fewer turnovers, better rebounding, fewer fouls and he is cheaper. I would always take Porter over Williams. To back that up, just look at my career record. Uh, never mind, don’t look at that.

As for Jameer Nelson, (see drafting of) I love Nelson as a backup point guard. He gives me scoring, usage and passing. I just had him on my ODL team and he averaged 10.2 points and 3.4 assists per game, with shooting splits of 52.7/48.9/82.5. I have had him have 50/50/90 seasons. All it takes is for one person to get that Jameer gleam in their eye and he’s gone, which is why I often draft him with my last pick.

My ODL team led the league in scoring and I owe it all to Jameer Nelson.

Keep in mind, these are deep insights coming from a wildly successful manager who has so many championship trophies that I don’t know where to keep them all been playing for a while.

I was surprised to see how bad Deron was on the glass. I’d still take him (and many others) before Terry

I think Terry Porter is one of the best PGs at this cap level. Yes, he's got some shortcomings, but that's why he belongs in the 3rd or 4th round. I'm more mindful of his middling defense than of his low rebounding numbers, but I think it's easier to build around his flaws than those of, say, Steve Nash.

I fall into the trap of taking players I have drafted before, instead of taking someone else who might actually be better. There are players who are good players who I shy away from for various reasons. Penny Hardaway, who a lot of people like, scares me with his three point shooting. Steve Nash scares me because he is Canadian of his defense. Deron Williams has too many tattoos. Mark Price is great, but he is already on Gerry’s team.

I typically want good assists, low turnovers, good defense, good three point shooting, good eFG% and at least decent rebounding from my point guard. Basically, what I want is Chris Paul. I don’t know what to think about guys like Dejounte Murray, who gives you good passing and great rebounding, but shoots way too much for a 50% eFG guy. I feel like I can compare apples to apples, but I can’t compare apples to oranges.

I'm also in the T Porter>D Williams camp. In fact, if Midge did not snag him, I was thinking about picking him myself, despite my Halliburton pick. Halliburton's 22 season is so close to Porter's best season, it's quite erie.

Also, jonstephen has some excellent talent, but he is going to have a challenge getting under the cap, and will need to make some hard decisions.

SeaPilots also has a ton of talent, but I am interested in how it all fits together - there might some touch choices there too.

I would like having a backcourt of Haliburton, Terry Porter and Jrue Holiday.
