Jim Leyritz (combined)
am i missing something? i don't think Leyritz is eligible as both the Padres and Red Sox are not "FA teams"

Should be available per the rule since I already had the Padres version. I opted to use a pick to get the combined version and not use the Padres version.

The second Paul Byrd pick made earlier today should be ok per rules too. But I’m not positive, LOL….

Got it. I interpreted the rule as allowing someone to do that if the combined version of the player was available as a Free Agent option. But I guess it is unclear.

I think you were right, footballmm11. I think it meant that if the combined version of that player was available as a free agent options AND you already have a partial season, you can select his combined season (and drop the partial season) without violating the rule against clones or the rule that teams must take the partial season of a player with a split season.

I'm hoping our commish chimes in on this soon.

I believe you all are correct about Leyritz. He is not shown on the available players list. So, I will keep the partial version of him and redo my round 7 pick. I also have an 8th round pick due.
thanks

This is a gray area I did not anticipate so, In sticking to my post of clones usage I mentioned you could draft a combined version to upgrade a partial version, you just couldn't use both versions. Since Leyritz is only on the San Diego and Boston rosters and both of those Franchises were drawn, I will allow those teams to upgrade to the combined version but they must use a pick to do so which is what rchisolm did.
With that said, any other owners who have players with the same situation of having a combined version can do so also, even if they are not listed in the draft pool.

Does that mean I can select the combined version of Mike Piazza Marlins (combined) even though he didn't get enough at bats with the team to have at bats to have a Mike Piazza Marlins (partial)? That would help my roster A LOT.
