Like riftonapple I'm from Greensboro, NC (a connection we realized a few months ago).

I went to App St but I'm a lifelong Wolfpack fan. Nothing worse than a Tarheel or a Blue Devil fan

I ate at a place in Cary, NC once because they had Beatle themed burgers and the waitress was wearing a shirt that was, let’s say, derogatory about Duke on one side and derogatory about UNC on the other side. I asked if if there is anyone you do like and she answered, “why State, of course.”

It was called the Abbey Road Grill. I had a George for lunch.

Two NC State fans together in the same league. Well there's a modern miracle for you, I thought most of them had given up at this point. ;)

Note: I would be much more eager to engage in trash talk with Wolfpack fans if not fur the UNC football team's embarrassing and historic collapse in Raleigh this past Thanksgiving. It's a humiliating riposte to whatever trash I would talk for at least another year. Though UNC baseball did get some measure of revenge by taking the series in Raleigh this past season, then beating State in the ACC tournament final to end their season.

As rivalry trump cards go, though, neither of those is as satisfying - or as comprehensive - as unranked UNC crushing Duke in Coach K's last home game and then ending his career in the first-ever NCAAT matchup (and in the Final Four no less). I conservatively estimate that it will take at least 50 years for me to stop bringing that up to Duke fans. I still can't quite believe it happened. Are there by chance any Duke fans in the league who I can berate about that?

I was at that football game. Never seen anything like it. I grew up a UNC fan and my daughter went there.
Blue Devil fans are the worst. But, Coach K is the real deal.

First time I ever pulled for UNC in the tournament. I couldn't quite believe that i was actually pulling for them, but it was better than the alternative.

My mom graduated from Western Carolina, stepdad from East Carolina, brother from Wake Forest, a 1st cousin from NC State..........
They're all Duke fans. I loathe Duke.

I always wondered about East Carolina, is it on an island in the Atlantic?

Its actually about 2 hours inland (Greenville) but it's the only real university east of Raleigh other than UNC-Wilmington (which is on the coast).

ECU does have a fairly new 'Coastal Studies Institute' which is on Roanoke Island. The Island is very close to the Atlantic (just a few miles), but its actually located in inland waters (between the Croatan & Roanoke Sounds).

Well it floods a lot there, so sort of?

How about this one. My son is in graduate school for biomedical engineering and it is a joint program between NC State and UNC. He actually has a student ID for both universities. He is looking forward to NC State football and UNC hoops this coming year.

Damn so many people from NC but nobody else from Charlotte. I’ve never been able to stand any of those three teams.
