Its a sad state the country is in. FIVE Major Problems yet the primary focus on this thread and one side of government is focused prosecuting a single person for an event that happened 16 months ago a mile away from where that person was that has zero bearing in causing or resolving those issues. It was very stupid regardless of the outcome or the cause, and again has ZERO bearing on how we will solve the major issues plaguing the US today which is where this thread started, unless we just keep blaming that person for everything (as redwings said initially) or because of Jan 6th.

If this were a true trial, both sides would be interrogated and if the facts were as clear as folks want you to believe, then you would get the same conclusion but why waste time getting the entire truth? We were told for 4 years a guy was a spy and they had the proof until they didnt. Seems more efficient to just conclude and put in prime time those witnesses that support own your position. If the REAL concern was preventing it from happening again (like the 9/11 commission) there would be equal representation and leaders on BOTH sides would be asked about their actions and stopping the partisan bickering. It was never on the table to have equal representation nor to allow each side to pick their representatives. So if you will only agree to you having a majority and only those on the other side sympathetic to you...you get what we have today. No real solution to prevent it again.

I said I voted on results that benefit me, not personalities..that has not changed. Others weighed in on insanity and character prosecutions....Id call Brandon a genius if he gets gas back to where it was without adding to the debt or depleting our reserves. In my opinion, he started the division and Brandon is basically Obama's 3rd term as the large majority of his cabinet were Obama cabinet members and is further left as evidenced by the key roles Bernie Sanders holds. There were many things in foreign policy where I liked what Trump did. Negotiating better trade deals, and for NATO members to pay their fair share, recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital (evangelical here); ending the Iran treaty (without real verification it was worthless anyway) attempting to get somewhere with N Korea. All these I supported. However there is an equally long list I didn’t support, I’ll mention one that really gets me mad, belittling others. John McCain, handicapped people, refugees.

In 2020 I switched my registration to Democratic. With the current GOP nominees in PA I won’t be going back anytime soon. ( A quack, carpetbagging TV doctor for Senator and a Jan 6 insurrectionist for governor who has already stated he would invalidate any ballots he wants,

I will not vote for any election denier, or people who use simplistic labels to negate their opponents.

There are people of both parties on the National scene I would consider voting for, but the fringe elements of both parties will try to prevent them from getting nominated.

By the way Laramie you should add Reagan to your list of good Presidents

For pro choice people - he wants to ban abortion even when rape or incest.
There is red majority in both pa houses and moderate republicans there are now just a handful. Most moderates have or are about to retire or others lost in primaries.

One day people of intelligence and good faith can discuss issues but for right now it is all about democracy.

One day God willing - people like Arlen Spector can come back but never until an anti democracy movement can be defeated.

On Arlen Spector - I saw the writing on the wall when before he switched parties he ran for president and in the Republican primaries he got 2-3%.
It was happening then and if he had gotten through the primaries he would you would think be formidable by getting republicans and the majority of the independents and a good number of democrats.

Instead he gets 2-3 % and leaves the party.

This is going to be a long fight and i think it will take about 15 years for this country to be respectable again with a 2 party system of patriotic people in both parties.

except for climate everything is subordinate to keeping a strong democracy and getting out of office election deniers and qanon people and white christian nationalists.
We have not lost the country but with too few like Fatguyard it is touch and go.

Most folks ARE Pro-choice (with limits!!) and Pro-Guns (again with limits!!--Don't know many advocating my right to a bazooka for example!!)

But WHY some folks THINK they get to decide for others what their Reproductive and Health choices are in a supposedly FREE Country is beyond my comprehension.
As IS the folks that think they need 30 round magazines and assault rifles for Hunting or even basic self protection!!
For self protection against criminals I'll take my double barrell shotgun for short range defense any day before I try and use an AR - 15.

BUT, IF'n I was planning on battling the Government THEN I would want at least a few AR - 15's...............but really they'd be quite useless in the long run.
THAT battle (thinking an individual can FIGHT the US Gov't) has long since passed as a reality!!

• RECORD Immigration of 3m in a year has not been an issue for DECADES, it was not a problem under Trump, Odumba or Bush or Clinton or Bush Sr., etc.
• Energy policies...again, you say its been an issue for years except high prices and short supply was NOT an issue since the 1970s. In fact Gas was under $2/gallon in 2017.

I never denied climate change but when they said in the early 90s we had 20 years....I guess they were wrong. The planet is warming and we have went through Ice Ages and Droughts for MILLIONS of years. So all the sudden you are fully confident in AOCs prediction of 12 years? The NY Times (not a conservative paper) and Quinnipiac (not a conservative group) published a poll today stating 76% of Primary Voters do not want Brandon to run again. 54% of Democrats do not even want him. Even the idiot AOC last week and Cori Bush today would NOT answer the question as to whether or not she felt he should run again. Not exactly a vote of confidence but you can keep supporting Brandon, its your vote.

Bottom Line.... I didnt vote for Brandon so I dont have to own his failures, just be impacted by them. You unfortunately have to do both.
