For redcped I have the 1972 Philadelphia Phillies with the $13 million Steve Carlton. The rest of the roster comes in for roughly $50 Million. Most expensive hitter Willie Montanez batted .247.

Sent sm to confirm if he meant the 1974 Phillies, but that's not the expensive Carlton year. I'll wait before picking for DD.

I messed up. Didn't remember only years from 1924,1934,1944 etc.

New Choice 1964 Colt 45's , third season for this franchise.

redcped sitemailed me. - Worst offense I've ever seen. ( cracked me up ) lol

Oh it is. I've been toying with it as an option for DD, but now I'm the victim. Gotta finalize my choice for him while I digest the wretchedness of that squad.

I mean, my goodness. The team slashes .243/.298/.336. A whopping $26M worth of offense. That's pretty darn sad.

i guess,as we get ready for round 4; we need 3 at each postion. If we only have 2, and one gets daggered, then we have illegal team

Yes farley, but out of a 4 team pool you should have at last three at each position.

OK, DodgerDon. You got spared a lot of really awful teams, as I spent these past couple rounds scratching out all the possible choices I'd scouted one after another. There are a few bad teams left, but I feel like they all seem to help you somewhere you need it. I'd like to avoid that!

Your 74 Dodgers give you options everywhere, and that's a nice flexibility to have. But you can only take 7 of them after all. The 64 Mets only give you a couple useful players and a lot of scrubs, but not much flexibility to mix and match. I wanted to give you a team that didn't improve your weakness at SS or give you extra choices as infield backups either, one that basically kept you with the same strengths as before. At this point, it seemed the best way to go.

I normally would not have considered giving you a team that actually was good, but sometimes good records don't add up to "6 players I can roster in an $80M league." So I have decided to give you the 1944 Detroit Tigers.

The Tigers have two very durable SP, but they're $12M and $10M guys. It's pretty tough to use too many $10M players in an $80M league, and these gus cost more $/IP than your other best choices. Would be a shame if one of them were to get daggered, too. The Tigers only have 7 pitchers period, and the other 5 are worse than options you already have.

On offense, the Tigers had a stud half-season Dick Wakefield, but again it's tough to spend $4M on 350 PA in a league like this. And take him away and you're left a group that slugs a combined .348. A couple decent corner infielders in York and Higgins, but you already had those in Garvey and Cey. You're also very RH-heavy offensively, and aside from Wakefield the Tigers didn't have a good lefty bat either.

This league is a challenge, and you've done this before. Maybe this move backfires and you manage to maximize the talent here despite the salary issues. But I just don't look at this group and think it makes your team any better or easier to assemble. Good luck, but not too much of it.

Thanks redcped. Ill take a look, but Im sure you are going to be right.

Now on to my screw.

Beernoser took the ‘34 Yankees. He received the ‘34 Browns so why leave that year when it comes to his 3rd team?

I’m gifting Charlie (Beernoser’s real name) the ‘34 Brooklyn Dodgers. Their best player plays 1st base, but he’s far cry from Lou Gehrig that’s for sure. They have a few decent, but not spectacular outfielders & their staff is meh at best.

1934 the country was in the middle of the Great Depression.

I’m thinking that’s how Beernoser will feel finding 6 players to add from the Bums of Flatbush!!

So it's on to round four to complete your teams. Hopefully by now, you are seeing a complete near perfect team coming together, unafraid of any silly attempt to dagger your squad.

Remember your final roster must have at least six players from each of your four teams.

You must have exactly the following players playing at their main positions on your final rosters.

2 catchers
2 iB
2 2B
2 3B
2 SS
5 OF
10 pitchers

Once the season starts you can start a player anywhere he has a WIS rating, but for your roster he counts whatever his main position is.

In other words if you have a shortstop who also has a rating at 2B and 3B he counts as one of your two shortstops. Once the season starts though you can start him at 2B, 3B or short.

After round four comes the first dagger round. Let's hold off on posting the daggers until the fourth round is finished just to avoid confusion.

minor question: you say after the roster is verified, I can start a player at any position he has a WIS rating. However, what if I want to start a C that has no 1B rating at 1B just for his bat and take the hit on defense? is that allowed?
8/28/2022 10:31 PM
We cannot play anybody *out of position* - he must have WIS availability at a position.
8/28/2022 11:07 PM
Landry is correct.

You can't start a player at a position he does not have a WIS rating. IT is possible WIS could put a player out of position during a game due to a pinch hitter or pinch runner. That's something you have no control over.

Another clarification. A couple of the players who load into the 1974 Brewers roster show up as Util. Does that mean I cannot roster any of them?
